No Queue = Big Queue?

This stall might appear to be pretty harmless at first but once you hand your orders over, you will be surprise with the number of invisible customers that are standing ahead of you... =.="""

'Yong Tau Fu'
For a start, each individual ingredient over here is S$0.60. This is
relatively high as compared to all the other 'Yong Tau Fu' stalls out
there. However, besides for the normal stuff that you can get at a
normal 'Yong Tau Fu' stall, they have specially made ingredients too.

In the end, I'm ended up with this.

For a start, they have separated the ingredients nicely. Once you
started mixing all the noodles and the ingredients together, the
heavenly sensation is a big (+). Every single bite comes with a nice
mixture of chewy and crunchy ingredients topped with a nice blend of
spicy and sweet sauce. Best of all, the ingredients that were
separated into the bowl of noodles are mostly ingredients that will
end up to be soggy when it's served in a bowl of soup. In fact,
I ended up finishing the whole bowl of noodles + ingredients without
even touching the bowl of soup + ingredients. :P

As for the bowl of soup, it comes with a strong and nice taste of
soya beans. The original taste of the soup is pretty sweet, which is
something that I like. However, it would be great if I can add a bit
of small sliced green chillies to spice up the overall taste of the
soup a bit more. :P As mentioned earlier, the choice of ingredients
over here are pretty good. The ingredients that were added into the
bowl of soup didn't end up to be pretty soggy and the sweet taste
of the soup can blend with the ingredients nicely.

So where can you give the nice 'Yong Tau Fu' a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Rong Xing Yong Tau Fu'(榮興酿豆腐).
It's located inside 'Tanjong Pagar Market and Food Centre'.

Opening Hours:
  • 07:00 - 14:30
(Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays)
  • Things can get pretty scary when there are more than 20 invisible customers that are standing in front of you. So either you have to be pretty early or you have to endure with the long queue... :P(Although it's a bit costly otherwise I couldn't imagine how long the queue will ended up to be if the price of each ingredient has been lowered... =.=""")

God Fire...

While travelling around Japan last year, I finally managed to come across a spicy delicacy in Hakata, Japan. (And Wasabi isn't spicy.) And that delicacy has something to do with this post today.

'God Fire Ramen'
They are preparing and selling a wide variety of 'Hakata Ramen'
over here. But, for the locals that love spicy food, the most
attractive and interesting 'Ramen' over here would most probably
be 'God Fire Ramen'.

They are offering 4 different levels of spiciness for the
'God Fire Ramen'. Well, the biggest difference between the 4
levels would most likely be the portion of special paste added
into the bowl of 'Ramen'. Trust me, the highest(4th) level can
really set fire on your tongue. However, it's nothing as
compared to the special '10X Special Paste Ramen' from
'Ichiran Ramen' from 'Hakata', 'Japan'. Besides for the spicy
soup base, the thin and chewy noodles, the strong and thick
Pork Broth, are the characteristics of the 'Hakata Ramen'.
(In fact, I love with 'Ramen' that comes with the thin and
chewy noodles.)

Not only the Noodles are chewy, the taste are equally good
too. On top of that, the taste of the broth is pretty spicy
and the taste of the Pork Broth is pretty thick. However,
the standards of the flavoured egg is pretty normal and the
slices of barbecue pork ain't satisfying enough, which is a
big disappointment. By the way, my face was covered with sweat
after spending a bit of time finishing the whole bowl of
'God Fire Ramen'.

The name of this 'Ramen' restaurant would be 'Ikkousha'.
In fact, 'Ikkousha' was the overall champion of 'Ramen
Champion' for 2 consecutive years. Therefore that might be
the main reason why they have decided to have their own
outlet in Singapore. The 'Ramen' restaurant is currently
located on level 1 of 'Tanjong Pagar Plaza', which
is also located opposite 'Orchid Hotel'.

Opening Hours:
  • Weekdays & Saturdays: 11:30 - 21:30
  • Sundays: 11:30 - 21:30

An Interesting Mix

Initially, due to the hot and humid weather outside, my mind was pretty much set on ordering a 'Cold Dessert'. But after my third or fourth look at the menu, I decided to go for a 'Hot Dessert' instead.

'Yam with Black Glutinous Rice'(芋头露与黑糯米)
Probably I haven't been keeping a lookout for desserts that come with lots of 'Yam'.
However, my interest for 'Yam' seems to have grown greatly recently. I was looking
at the menu and this has captured my immediate attention. Hence, I decided to give
this a good try.

After giving this dessert a thorough mix, I personally find it to be pretty nice.
For a start, every go at this dessert comes with a pretty nice fragrance of 'Yam'.
On top of that, the mixture doesn't end up to be too sticky or too watery. In fact
the texture is pretty good when it comes to 'Black Glutinous Rice'. Making a good
bowl of 'Black Glutinous Rice' can be pretty difficult, especially when you need
to ensure that the texture doesn't end up to be too sticky and the 'Glutinous Rice'
doesn't end up to be too soft and overcook. What they are serving over here is in
fact pretty nice. The 'Glutinous Rice' aren't too hard or too soft and as mentioned
earlier, the fragrance of it is pretty good too.

'Hot Desserts'
The above shows their menu for 'Hot Desserts', which is their speciality.

'Cold Desserts'
The above shows their menu for 'Cold Desserts'.

The name of this place is 'Dessert Hut'(甜品小屋).
They have a few outlets island-wide.
The above shows the outlet located inside 'People's Park Centre'.
