Not A & W but B & W...

Speaking of 'A & W', the first thing that will pop out of your mind would most likely be the infamous 'Root Beer Float'. However, the post today has nothing to do with 'A & W'.One of the main killers of this place would be...

Burgers. And this is...
'Free Range Chicken Burger'
In terms of the height, this is a pretty good deal. Not only there's an interesting
and generous portions of ingredients(a thick 'Chicken Patty', 'grilled Bacon', 'Sunny
Side Egg', mixture of vegetables), the taste of it is pretty good too. Taking a bite
off the burger is exceptionally good, especially when you started chewing off the thick
and meaty patty. Not only it's chewy, the freshly prepared patty is deliciously yummy
and fulfilling too. Frankly speaking, not only it's well prepared, it's...

so juicy that to some extent, the 'burger' seems to be X. (What the hell is 'X'
you can figure that yourself by taking a look at the photo in the above.)

'Sweet Potatoes Fries'
This is one of the reasons why I have decided to give this place a try. This is one
of the places that is preparing and offering 'Sweet Potatoes Fries'. Even though it
doesn't come for free, but I just couldn't resist the 'Sweet Fries'. This delicious
looking orangy sweet 'fries' are far more tastier than the average 'fries'. If you are
not into 'fries', you should give this a go, it will change your opinion about 'fries'.

The fun doesn't end there. Besides for the interesting variety of 'fries' that you
can get over here, you can always top up a bit of cash and go for the 'Tapas Buffet'.
The menu of the 'Tapas Buffet' changes on a daily basis. The other day, they have
this interesting 'Potato Soup'. And it's so sinful and good that it makes you feel
like going for the 2nd or 3rd helping. However, I doubt that an average joe can
outstand 2 helping of the soup + a burger and a portion of 'fries' over here. :P
(I must strongly stress that I'm not your average joe. I do have a big appetite.)

Besides for the soup, they have 'Bean salad', 'Potato salad', 'Bread sticks',
'Takoyaki', 'Chips', 'Papadum', etc... Even though the taste of most of the items
pretty normal but the wide variety of 'Tapas' can accompany you the whole night long. :D

The 'Tapas buffet' also comes with 'fruit slices', slices of 'cakes', 'Ice Cream'
etc... I think one of my favourite item that night would most likely be the 'Pandan'
cake wrap around a layer of 'minty' cream.

So where can you give all these interesting stuff a try?
The name of this place would be 'Burger Vs Wings + Bar'.
It's located on level 11 of 'Orchard Central'.

DIY your Hamburger or Cheeseburger...

Do you prefer a 'Hamburger' or a 'Cheeseburger'? On top of that, what are the ingredients that you loved most? Over here, the 'Sky is the Limit' and they are offering more than one million different types of burgers. Trust me, you can never finish up trying all the different burger combinations over here.

Before moving on with the step of describing my burger, let me start off
by explaining the difference between the 'Hamburger' and 'Cheeseburger'
over here. Basically the main difference would be the additional selection
of Cheese that comes with the 'Cheeseburger'.

'DIY Hamburger'
For a start, I have chosen 'Honey Oat Bun' as the base and I have also
chosen the 'Grilled Chicken' patty out of the 4 different selections,
which is 'Beef', 'Mutton', 'Pork' and 'Grilled Chicken'. Ingredients wise,
I have chosen 'Shredded Lettuce', 'Tomato Slice', 'Pickles', 'Jalepeno'
and also 'Fried Egg'. As for the dressing, I have taken 'Mayonnaise' and
'Roasted Garlic Aioli'.

The burger ended up to be a bit too thick for me. Even when I have opened
my mouth to the maximum, I still have difficulty biting the burger. Taste
wise, the succulent 'Grilled Chicken' is fantastic and upon mixing each
individual bite with the 'half Fried Egg' and several other ingredients, the
taste is pretty exciting and interesting to me. There's a nice mixture of
all the different tastes. And best of all, despite of all the ingredients
added, you still can taste the delicious 'Grilled Chicken'. :D

By the way, they are also offering interesting ingredients like
'Grilled Bananas', 'Grilled Pineapples', etc... over here too.

'Disco Fries'
As for the 'Disco Fries', it's topped with a layer of 'Cheese' and the
base is covered with a thick layer of gravy, which kinda reminds me of
'Brown Sauce'. However the fries are a bit too soft for me but the taste
of the sauces are pretty good. I have given the 'Mayonnaise' and 'Curry
Remoulade' a try and it seems that the 'Curry Remoulade' tastes as
delicious as the 'Curry Sauce' that 'Mcdonalds' is offering back then.
And it's the sauces that gives the fries a very big (+).

So where can you give the 'Burgers' a good try?
The name of this restaurant would be
"The Burger Bar by fatboy's concept".

A Cheesy Submarine...

I was strolling towards 'Toa Payoh MRT station' and I happen to see this cute signboard with the shape of a 'Submarine'. It ended up to be a 'Fast Food restaurant' and since I still have a bit of space in my stomach, I decided to give this 'Fast Food restaurant' a go. :D

'Oregano Submarine Set Meal'
I ended up placing an order for the 'Oregano Submarine Set Meal'. Even though
they have given it a name with 'Submarine', but the appearance of the burger
itself isn't big enough and my eyes didn't pop out. :|

Even though I'm not a 'French Fries' guy but I can frankly tell you that the
'Fries' over here are pretty good. First of all, the 'Fries' are crunchy and
at the same time not too salty. And the cooks over here have covered the
'Fries' with a thick layer of 'Cheese'. By the way, the term 'Thick' over here
not only refers to the texture of the 'Cheese', the taste of the 'Cheese' is
irresistibly strong too. :P

As for the 'Submarine' itself, the taste and the texture of the 'Chicken'
were pretty normal and it's not exciting enough. In fact, I personally
think that the 'Fries' were much more better than the 'Submarine' itself.
But looking at the environment of this place, I think that it's a pretty
good place for a group of friends to gather and do some catching up.
You can simply order a few portion of 'French Fries' and share it among
yourself. :D

So where can you give these 'Fast Food' a try?
The name of this 'Fast Food restaurant' would be 'Yellow Submarine'.
It's located in 'Toa Payoh Central'.

Burgers R Not Fast Food! (Closed)

After placing your orders, usually how long does it take for the waitress to prepare and deliver the burger to you? Is it faster than 5 minutes or how about 10 minutes? In fact, I was waiting for my burger orders for more than 20 minutes the other day.

Looks pretty ordinary right? Go ahead, give it a try, try guessing what sort of
burger this is. (Or you can just simple continue reading... :D I doubt that
anyone can guess it correctly, unless you have eaten it before. :P)

'Choco Lamb Burger Set Meal'
Here comes the interesting part. Everyone knows that mutton meat have this strong
odour/flavour and in order to made it much more tastier, some chef tends to add
a lot of spices or ingredients to suppress the strong mutton taste. Therefore as
for this burger, they have come up with the interesting idea of adding 'Nutella'
as one of the main ingredients. They are using the sweet, thick, chocolatey
'Nutella' to suppress the strong taste. This is a interesting combination. And
initially, I thought that the mutton meat might ended up to be a bit tough but
rather than being tough, it ended up to be pretty tender and not too dry too,
which is a big (+). By the way, the size of the burger is pretty big too.

By the way, depending on the size of the burgers that you have ordered, you get
to choose either 1(for the smaller burgers) or 2(for the bigger burgers) side
dishes. I ended up choosing the 'French Fries' and the 'Tater Tots'(mini hash
brown puffs). The taste of the 'Tater Tots' are pretty okay but the 'Fries' are too
salty. It would be great if they can cut down on the amount of salt added into it.

By the way, they are providing 'pickles', 'Tabasco Sauce', 'Chilli Sauce',
'Tomato Sauce', 'Serviette', metal cutlery at the side of the stall. So just
go ahead and help yourself to it. :D

Here's the menu of the stall. Luckily I couldn't take beef due to religious reason,
otherwise I would really want to give the 'The Warrior Snack' burger a try too. (Just
imagine 600g (3 * 200g) of beef stuffed inside a burger which is simply 2 times of
'Sparta', 2 times the 'Madness'... :O)

So what's the name of this stall?
The name of this stall would be 'De Burg'.
It's located in one of the coffee shop along 'Bukit Merah Lane'.

Good Morning Vietnam...

I was accompanying my friend the other day, doing a bit of window shopping in some of the shopping malls in town. We came across this humongous burger looking food item and for some strange reasons, I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Therefore last weekend, I decided to go for it.

'Bánh Mì' - Caramelised 5-spice Pork Belly, Pork Pate
I was browsing across the web, trying to find out more information about this. And
it seems that this is something that was introduced by the French to the Vietnamese
locals during its colonial period. The idea behind this 'Bánh Mì' is pretty much
similar to a normal sandwich. However, they are using the French bread, 'Baguette',
rather than the regular bread. Since this was influenced by the Vietnamese and
French, therefore it isn't a surprise that French ingredients like (Mayonnaise,
Baguette) and Vietnamese ingredients such as (Cilantro, Chilli Peppers, Pickled
Carrots) have been added into this burger looking food. As for the 'Bánh Mì' that
they are offering over here, most of them come with different types of cold cuts
from pork but they also have 'Bánh Mì' that come with 'Chicken', 'Fish' and
vegetables only.

So how does it taste like?
I always have the impression that all the various types of French loaf are usually
harder than normal bread. However, this has proven me wrong. The bread isn't as
tough as I thought and besides for the crust which is a bit crispy, the rest of
it are pretty chewy like a normal bread. Although the ingredients were served
cold, but since most of the ingredients were pickled vegetables, I really love
the unique and refreshing taste of the mixed vegetables. Even though cold cuts
have been added into the 'Bánh Mì', but I think that as compared to the vegetables,
the taste of the meat aren't exciting enough. Probably I would give the vegetarian
version of the 'Bánh Mì' the next time round. :D

Besides for 'Bánh Mì', they also have various types of Vietnamese food on their
menu. Items like 'Hanoi Pho', 'Viet Desserts', side dish like 'Cold Prawn Rolls'
have been listed on the menu too. :D

The name of this place would be 'NamNam Noodle Bar'.
It's located inside 'Raffles City Shopping Centre'.

The opening hours are from 8:00 - 21:30.
The value breakfast set are available from 8:00 - 10:00 on weekdays only.

Family Restaurant

I was thinking of going to 'Liang Court' for some Japanese food, but I was passing by 'Central Shopping Mall' and I recalled that there was this new 'Western Food Restaurant' in the basement. Therefore...

'Choco Almond Dessert Pizza'
This is the first time I'm trying a Pizza covered with Chocolate,
Almonds, Peanut Butter and Marshmallow. The strong Chocolate aroma
smell reminds me of the Chocolate factory at Jurong Area. The aroma
is simply too overpowering. The friendly waitress was asking if the
pizza should be served before or after my main course since it was
suppose to be a dessert. I should have listen to her advice.
Although it's a 7' pizza, however the amount of ingredients that was
sprinkled on top of the pizza were too thick. After spending around
15~20 minutes gobbling down the whole pizza, I was full, too full.
The thick peanut butter paste + Chocolate combination were crazily
filling, sweet and tasty. It's so filling that to some extent, I
almost had difficulty finishing everything.

'Chicken Ball Panini Set Meal'
The set meal comes with a basket of 'Fries' and a burger-alike
'Panini'. It's pretty much similar to a burger, but the bread
used to wrap all the meat together are slightly a bit different.
Although you can request for 'Tartar sauce' and 'Chilli sauce',
however the taste of the 'Fries' are too salty and even with
the help of the 'Tartar sauce', it couldn't help much. ==""

'Chicken Ball Panini'
Though the texture of the 'Panini' is pretty unique, however the
burger is slightly a bit too meaty. Besides for the meaty issue,
I think that the meat are slightly a bit too dry. It would taste
even much more better if they can add a bit of sauce and a bit more
vegetables in between the 'bread'. However when I tried to compare
it to the 'Choco Almond Dessert Pizza', I think that the 'Choco
Almond Dessert Pizza' would be a much wiser choice. :P

So where can you try all the yummy stuff that I have listed in this post.

The name of this restaurant would be 'Vivo - American Pizza & Panini'.
It's located on basement 1 of 'Central Shopping Mall'.

My favourite 'Fast' Food....

'Fast Food', a type of food that plays an important role in our busy life. Regardless whether you are a student of a working adult, there ought to be numerous situations where limited time was given and you have to grab some 'fast food'. Therefore, I'm going to share my favourite 'fast food' in Singapore today. :P

And here comes...

'Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders Sandwich Combo'
Probably by taking a look at all the packaging, you probably can
guessed it correctly and yes, you can get this combo set is from
"Carl's Jr.".

But why do I love "Carl's Jr."?

'Drinks - Ice Lemon Tea'
Upon making a purchase for a cold drink, you will be given an
empty cup and you can help yourself to the unlimited beverages
servings. On top of that, if you are a 'Ice Lemon Tea' lover,
you can also add a few slices of fresh lemons into the cup too.
(Well, this reminds me of the good old days that I tend to buy a
drink and find a seat in "Carl's Jr." reading for more that half
of the day.)

Probably they are trying to maximise the output and reduce the
amount of time required in cutting the potatoes into fries,
therefore you can easily spot the skin of the potatoes on the
tip of the fries. Though the taste is pretty much the same
everywhere but they are giving away tubes of tartar sauce for
free and I love to dip my fries into tartar sauce before
I eat it. :) To some extent, I wonder am I eating tartar sauce
or am I eating fries... :P

Here comes the best part. :D
The burgers of "Carl's Jr.". Firstly, I love the way they are
making it. They will only start making and preparing the burger
upon placing an order for it. On top of that, you can also
request for extra toppings with additional charges. (I used to
go with Carl's Catch™ Fish Sandwich with extra fish patties. :P)
Secondly, the size of the burgers are pretty satisfying. I
have to open my mouth widely in order to bite the whole burger.
That's nice. :D Last but not least, the fresh ingredients
that they are using. I'm not sure about the hamburgers, but
as for the fish and chicken burgers, they are using good
quality meat and I'm loving it. :D Taste wise, I guess this
is one of the better 'fast food' chain in Singapore, especially
when all the burgers that they are offering has maintain a
pretty good balance between the meat and vegetables.

How big can a burger be?

That would be the main subject of this post. How big can a burger be? :P Everything starts at a pretty big Hong Kong Cafe...

'Drinks corner'
Besides for the usual drinks that you can get at a Hong Kong Cafe, this
place has come up with all sorts of interesting names for the ice
blended drinks. Not knowing what I will be getting, I decided to go for
one of the ice blended drinks, 'At the Threshold of An Era'(创世纪)
[shown on the left]. It's filled with the taste of Honeydew but up till
today I still can't find the link between the name and the drink. :|
(There's also drinks that comes with the name of Burning Hearts(烈火雄心),
etc... In fact if you are a HK drama fanatic, you could easily identify
popular HK drama names that are used in naming the ice blended drinks.
Reminds me of the late 90s where HK dramas play a very big role in my life. :D))

'Thick Toast Bread with Peanut Butter'
How can I leave without trying the thick toast.
In fact this is a pretty common dish in all the HK Cafe in Singapore.
It's just that I can't resist these toast. Especially when it comes
with a very thick layer of peanut butter on top of the toast. :P
Although one could get pretty sick of the toast after a few bites,
but this is definitely something one could share with the others.
Unless you can finish the whole thing by yourself. :P
(I miss those days where me and my friends will hang out at a HK Cafe
chit-chatting over a few thick toasts in the middle of the night.)

This place also serve noodle dishes, rice dishes, baked rice, dim sum,
vegetarian food etc... There ought to be something for everyone to try. :P

And here comes the main subject of the day...
'Giant Size HK Burger'
This burger is indeed very big. Though I think, I think only, it's
pretty much possible for me to finish the burger myself, but
excluding the fries. :P Either ways, the chef has added lots and
lots of vegetables and chicken patties inside the burger.
Although the taste is pretty much normal but the grand appearance
of it has definitely bring us a lot of laughter and fun.
(By the way, if you happen to be celebrating your birthday at
this place and you are in a group of 6, you can get the
'Giant Size HK Burger' for free. Note: it's not a must for
you to visit the place on your birthday. As long as it's
plus or minus 3 days from your birthday, you are entitle
to the 'Giant Size HK Burger' promotion. :P)

By the way where can you get the 'Giant Size HK Burger'?

The name of the HK Cafe would be 'Causeway Bay HK Cafe'. Currently they only have a branch in Singapore and it is located at CentrePoint Shopping Centre Level 1.
