An edible toy at Mac

How would an edible toy look like? This would be something that we would be exploring today. :)

This might look like a normal burger set but there's something different about it.
Putting the French Fries aside, the way they are serving the French Fries are quite
differently too. Served in a basket, the French Fries still remains to be pretty
much the same. Probably it's due to the fact that I'm ordering it without any salt,
but this isn't the most interesting part of this post.

'Create Your Taste'
For my creation, wrapped inside the 'Semolina Bun' are ingredients like 'Jalapenos',
'Lettuce', 'Bacon' x 2 servings, 'Tortilla Chips', 'Tomatoes' and also the 'Big Mac
Special Sauce'. Pretty interesting right. Some of these ingredients are making their
first appearance in a burger in Singapore. Though I have taken out the meaty patties,
but I have actually gone ahead an make this interesting burger which includes a
mixture of ingredients of different tastes and textures. Not too bad for a burger
that 1 could get in a fast food restaurant. By the way, for some of the ingredients,
the first serving is free, but subsequent orders are chargeable. However, there's a
maximum number of servings that you can add to the burger too. But some other 'fun'
ingredients are stuff like 'Pickles', 'Guacamole', 'Grilled Pineapple Ring', etc...

A beefy creation...

These burgers are actually created using the 'Create Your Taste' campaign of
McDonalds. Currently there are 4 outlets in Singapore that are providing the service.
And personally I find this more interesting than the toys that they are selling from
time to time.

My confession...?

We decided to hit one of the premium outlets after work. And off we go... After spending an hour or two browsing through all the different offerings that one can get over here, we decided to have our dinner over here...

'Jalapeño cheese sticks'
For starters, we are going to have the 'Jalapeño cheese sticks'. Easily
mistaken for 'Fish Sticks', these are actually 'Jalapeño'...

For a start, the outer layer of these 'Jalapeño sticks' ain't too thick and
they have managed to create small little sparks in my mouth. Not knowingly
the name of these sauces, but they do manage to blend in well with the
overall taste of the 'Jalapeño'. :)

'Seafood Combo'
When I looked at the photo that was appearing on the menu, I was like it
can't be for real. I don't think the portion can be that 'big'. In fact
over here in Singapore, most of the 'Fish & Chips' that you can find and
get in Singapore would comes with a slice of battered fish. And I know
that there are places that would be giving you 2 slices of fish. But over
here, I was astonished with the portions that they are serving over here.
The photos are real~~~ Oh my god...

I don't think there's a need for the 'refillable fries' when the portion
over here ain't just big, it's humongous... I think I can try to finish
everything but with the amount of things that I have ordered, that's
kinda difficult. For the mains, wrapped inside a layer of crispy crust,
the flesh of the seafood isn't that bad. but it gets kinda sickening when
there's 3 slices of fish and shrimp. As compared to the fries that comes
with this combo set, the flesh of the seafood slices are far more firm
and far more appealing than the fries which isn't crunchy enough.

'Chicken Tacos'
One thing that I have learnt from my travels, never let a chance to slip
away. If you have come across something that you wanted to try and your
stomach has the space(?) for it, do not hesitate and do give it a try.

Therefore I have also ended up with this big plate of 'Chicken Tacos'.
Loaded with lots of vegetables and a small portion of meat, this isn't
that bad. Though the ingredients are wrapped inside a soft Taco, but
with the amount vegetables loaded inside the 'Taco', it ended up to have
this refreshing and crispy sensation, which is a (+). However the portion
is slightly a bit too big....

In fact, I was happily pointing out that over here, I personally felt
like an average eater. But my colleague was pointing out that over there
they will finish half the portion and have the other half as packed
lunch tomorrow afternoon and I saw like. TT.TT They goes with my native
thinking.... :P

So where can you give these fast food a good try?
The name of this fast food restaurant would be "Ruby's Diner".
And the above shows the outlet located at "Carlsbad Premium Outlets".

Carls Junior Origins?

What can an individual do when he managed to wake up pretty early in the morning in an unfamiliar environment? The answer will be...

to check out the different options for breakfast... :D And this happens
to be one of them...

'The Redhook® Beer Battered Cod Fish Sandwich Meal'
Though it's merely the morning, but you can also get the usual sinful
burgers and fries. Being a big fan of Carl's Junior, I decided to give
the burgers over here a good try. :P As compared to the meals that one
can get in Singapore, the portions over here are ridiculously too big
to be true. Just the cup alone is pretty amazing already. It's crazily
big and on top of that, the selection of beverages over here are pretty
stunning too. Just by giving all the drinks a try can easily satisfy
one's hunger... =.=""" The generous portion of fries are pretty good
too. I shouldn't have ordered such a big portion for breakfast... @.@

This burger is made up of ingredients like 'Beer Battered Cod Fish',
sliced 'Lettuce', sliced 'Tomatoes', 'Tartar sauce', wrapped inside
a sesame bun. Even though the burger doesn't appears to be as big
as those that are appearing in the commercials, but the taste of the
burger is pretty decent. Not as bitter as they portrayed it to be,
but the sweet taste of the fish topped with the 'Tartar sauce' are
pretty reasonable. This makes me wonder how thick the 'Beef burgers'
will ended up to be. (Even though I'm not a beef eater... :P But it
will be fun to share the photos of it around... :D)

'Cinnamon Pull Aparts'
The whole idea of this side dish is pretty much similar to a muffin.
But it's loaded with a nice fragrance of Cinnamon and one can use a
fork to pull them apart. On top of that, the sweet taste is a (+). :D

Basically this is still "Carl's Junior", but it's the food that one
could get from the outlets in US.
The above shows the outlet located at Irvine, CA, United States.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours:
Varies at the different outlet across US. Some of the outlets are opened 24/7 too.

It's not just about the main...

Are you into French Fries and the portion that you are getting just isn't big enough to satisfy your needs? Then you should give this place a try...

'Salad'
Started off with some greenly vegetables. A bit too plain for me. Would be
much much more tasty if they can provide some seasoning sauce.

'Spicy Buffalo Chicken Burger Set Meal'
As you place an order for a main course, you will be entitled to a plate of
salad and unlimited portions of French Fries. Frankly speaking, I love the
French Fries over here. Sounds a bit strange, but I would only go for French
Fries that comes with no salt. I'm getting that over here too and on top of
that, it seems that they would only start preparing the French Fries when a
customer places an order for it. Therefore the saltless, crunchy sticks are
simply far too amazing and delicious. Sadly speaking, they only have chilli
sauce and mayonnaise to go with the Fries but if they have provided Tartar
sauce, I might have gone ahead and place an order for my 3rd or 4th
helping of French Fries. :D

One of the signatures dishes over here would be the burgers. The moment I
stepped into this restaurant, the waitresses were asking, are you here for
the burgers? And more than 70 percent of the orders that night were mostly
burgers. Though it's not the biggest in Singapore, but the portion of this
is far more bigger than than one of my favorite fast food joint in
Singapore. Not only it's big, the thickness of the burger is pretty
amazing too. And here comes the best part. There's an outburst of juicy
meaty goodness in every single bite. Though I'm not getting the spicy
touch but the mix of chewy and crunchy ingredients just simply makes this
irresistibly yummy and satisfying. :D

So where can you give all these yummy stuff a try?
The name of this restaurant would be 'Suprette'.
It's located on level 1 of 'Kam Leng Hotel'.

This is a photo of 'Kam Leng Hotel'.
Just in case you are passing by this place almost every single day and you
don't know that this is the hotel that has the amazing restaurant.

'Lim Teh' + 'Jiak Gan Dang'!!!

In the past, I used to be a 'Fries Hater'. If I can miraculously finish a big load of Fries, either it's due to the fact that the sauces that comes with it are amazing delicious(Tartar, Garlic Chilli, Curry, etc... ) or the fries isn''t just ordinary fries(Butter Fries, etc...). But, over the last few years, there seems to be a big boom in 'X' fries in the market that has gained my interest in fries again.

'Persian Apple Ginger Tea'
Though you can go for unlimited refills for the Tea, but not sure is it
the choice of Tea pot(that they are using over here isn't good enough) or
it's the Tea Leaves, the drinking experience isn't great enough. It's not
that the taste of the 'Tea' isn't fiery or tasty enough, it's just that the
'Tea Leaves' are so fine that it keeps getting into the cup and it's pretty
unpleasant and annoying. =.= However...

'X(Sweet Potatoes) Fries'
That's right, as for the 'X' fries that I had mentioned earlier, I'm
actually referring to the 'Sweet Potatoes Fries'.

Even though when you compare the nutrition value values of a
Potatoes vs a Sweet Potatoes, it might ended up to be the same or the
Sweet Potatoes might stand out a bit, but that isn't the most important.
Most importantly, I love the sweet taste of it and not forgetting the
crunchy sensation. It's all these small little details that has capture
my interests in Fries or should I say Sweet Potatoes Fries again. :D

So where can you give these Fries a good try?
The name of this cafe would be 'PoTeaTo'.

What's with the dancing Bee?

Pretty much similar to the kids in Singapore grown up eating "McDonald's", the locals in Philippines grown up with 'this'. So what's so fascinating about 'this'? That's gonna be something that we will be exploring in this post...

This would be the mascot of...

'Jollibee'.
Before I move on to the food itself, there's another obstacle that I have to
overcome first. And that would be...

the crazy long queue...
Even though there are 6 counters over here, but the queue is complete madness.
Just inside the restaurant itself, rather than queueing up in a straight line,
they are twisting and turning the line a few times. On top of that, the queue
will continue all the way to the empty space next door and it started twisting
and turning again... Even though the queue move in a relatively fast manner, but
I still ended up queueing for an hour or so during a Sunday afternoon. =.=

'2 piece Chicken Meal'
The set comes with a fizzy soft drink(the choices of the soft drink are pretty
much similar to those that you are getting at 'KFC') and...

A lump of white rice, a bowl of gravy and also 2 pieces of 'Crispy Chicken'.
Initially, I also thought that it was supposed to be a 'Whipped Potato', but
as I open up the container, I realised that it's merely gravy. My expression
were pretty much similar to (O.o)? As I ripped open the lump of rice, then I
realised that most likely I can choose to either dip pieces of 'Chicken' into
the sauce or pour it all over the rice(which works kinda similar to 'Curry').

Taste wise, the crispy and not too oily crunchy skin is pretty good. Topped
with the tender and juicy meat just makes it even much more better. As I dipped
it inside the sweet gravy, the taste of the gravy kinda reminds me of the
gravy of the 'Whipped Potato' of 'KFC'... I guess the 2 piece 'Chicken' meal
works pretty much similar to a normal 'Western set meal', you are suppose to
have the 'Chicken' with the rice and the gravy. Otherwise you might ended up
like me, eating a lump of white rice with gravy all over it. =.="" This is
pretty okay, but it might be much more interesting if I have eaten it with
the delicious pieces of 'Chicken'. :P

Currently, they only have an outlet in Singapore. It's located on level 6
of 'Lucky Plaza' shopping centre, which is located along 'Orchard Road'.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours:
    09:00 - 21:00
  • Whatever you do, try to avoid the weekends. Otherwise, you will be amazed with the big crowd of people queueing up outside the restaurant.

When you can keep both...

'鱼与熊掌', this is a Chinese Idiom. It means that you can't have both fish and bear's paw. You will have to choose one of them. However, this doesn't apply to the foodie world. You can actually have both of them at the same time. Introducing...

'Fish Fillet Burger'
Basically, this ended up looking like a toy more than a fast food to me.
Anyway, you get to D.I.Y the burger that you want. First of all, you have
the choose the main ingredient, either Fish or Chicken. After that, you
have to choose a 'Paw' out of 6 different flavours, which is 'Milk', 'Yam',
'Whole Grain','Brown Sugar','Japanese Curry' or 'Squid Ink'. I ended up
choosing 'Japanese Curry'. Well, most of the burgers out there are topped
with a sauce. Same goes over here, you have to choose a sauce out of 6
different sauces. There's 'Black Pepper', 'Tar Tar', 'Golden Cheese',
'Mushroom', 'Thai Chilli' and 'Honey Mustard'. Well, that's 'Black Pepper'
for me.

Taste wise, I think that this is pretty normal. Even though the taste of
the 'Paw' has added an additional taste to the burger, but the additional
taste just isn't strong/nice enough. Or probably I have to go with the
funky selections to spice up the taste a bit. (Ex: 'Squid Ink Paw' +
'Honey Mustard'.) By the way, I do admit that the burger looks kinda cute
but taste wise it's pretty normal and the potion is kinda small for me. :|

'D-I-Y Fries'
By topping up a bit more, you can get the 'D-I-Y Fries' rather than the
usual natural cut fries. Basically the difference between the 'D-I-Y Fries'
and the normal natural cut fries would be the extra sauce that comes with
it. Basically, you just choose a sauce out of the 6 listed in the above. I
don't remember what's the sauce I ended up choosing but I do remember that
the texture and the original taste of the fries were pretty good. But there
are more and more fast food restaurants nowadays that are offering 'natural
cut fries'. Therefore if you continue to offer the normal fries, you will lose
out to the competitors in the competitive market of fries.

So where can you give the cute burgers a try?
The name of this fast food restaurant would be 'Bear Bites'(熊の食).
The above shows the second outlet that is located on basement 1
of Bugis Junction.

A Cheesy Submarine...

I was strolling towards 'Toa Payoh MRT station' and I happen to see this cute signboard with the shape of a 'Submarine'. It ended up to be a 'Fast Food restaurant' and since I still have a bit of space in my stomach, I decided to give this 'Fast Food restaurant' a go. :D

'Oregano Submarine Set Meal'
I ended up placing an order for the 'Oregano Submarine Set Meal'. Even though
they have given it a name with 'Submarine', but the appearance of the burger
itself isn't big enough and my eyes didn't pop out. :|

Even though I'm not a 'French Fries' guy but I can frankly tell you that the
'Fries' over here are pretty good. First of all, the 'Fries' are crunchy and
at the same time not too salty. And the cooks over here have covered the
'Fries' with a thick layer of 'Cheese'. By the way, the term 'Thick' over here
not only refers to the texture of the 'Cheese', the taste of the 'Cheese' is
irresistibly strong too. :P

As for the 'Submarine' itself, the taste and the texture of the 'Chicken'
were pretty normal and it's not exciting enough. In fact, I personally
think that the 'Fries' were much more better than the 'Submarine' itself.
But looking at the environment of this place, I think that it's a pretty
good place for a group of friends to gather and do some catching up.
You can simply order a few portion of 'French Fries' and share it among
yourself. :D

So where can you give these 'Fast Food' a try?
The name of this 'Fast Food restaurant' would be 'Yellow Submarine'.
It's located in 'Toa Payoh Central'.

Burgers R Not Fast Food! (Closed)

After placing your orders, usually how long does it take for the waitress to prepare and deliver the burger to you? Is it faster than 5 minutes or how about 10 minutes? In fact, I was waiting for my burger orders for more than 20 minutes the other day.

Looks pretty ordinary right? Go ahead, give it a try, try guessing what sort of
burger this is. (Or you can just simple continue reading... :D I doubt that
anyone can guess it correctly, unless you have eaten it before. :P)

'Choco Lamb Burger Set Meal'
Here comes the interesting part. Everyone knows that mutton meat have this strong
odour/flavour and in order to made it much more tastier, some chef tends to add
a lot of spices or ingredients to suppress the strong mutton taste. Therefore as
for this burger, they have come up with the interesting idea of adding 'Nutella'
as one of the main ingredients. They are using the sweet, thick, chocolatey
'Nutella' to suppress the strong taste. This is a interesting combination. And
initially, I thought that the mutton meat might ended up to be a bit tough but
rather than being tough, it ended up to be pretty tender and not too dry too,
which is a big (+). By the way, the size of the burger is pretty big too.

By the way, depending on the size of the burgers that you have ordered, you get
to choose either 1(for the smaller burgers) or 2(for the bigger burgers) side
dishes. I ended up choosing the 'French Fries' and the 'Tater Tots'(mini hash
brown puffs). The taste of the 'Tater Tots' are pretty okay but the 'Fries' are too
salty. It would be great if they can cut down on the amount of salt added into it.

By the way, they are providing 'pickles', 'Tabasco Sauce', 'Chilli Sauce',
'Tomato Sauce', 'Serviette', metal cutlery at the side of the stall. So just
go ahead and help yourself to it. :D

Here's the menu of the stall. Luckily I couldn't take beef due to religious reason,
otherwise I would really want to give the 'The Warrior Snack' burger a try too. (Just
imagine 600g (3 * 200g) of beef stuffed inside a burger which is simply 2 times of
'Sparta', 2 times the 'Madness'... :O)

So what's the name of this stall?
The name of this stall would be 'De Burg'.
It's located in one of the coffee shop along 'Bukit Merah Lane'.

I got to admit...

that over the last few years, this is the first time they are attracting my attention again. And that particular product will be...

the new 'Taro Pie'.
Out of the 3 new products that they have launched recently, I find this the best.
As for the reason why, I guess the first and one of the most important reason would
be the relatively cheap price. In fact, as fas as I could remember, it's much more
cheaper than the cost of a Apple Pie during my secondary school days. Secondly, the
nice fragrance of the vegetable, Taro. Last but not least, the good taste. the pie
was wrapped with a layer of crispy crust and the warm Taro can easily burn your
tongue. Therefore, I would strongly suggest that you let it cool down for a minute
or so before you take the first bite. :P Anyway, though the taste of the Taro is
slightly a bit too sweet, but the overall experience still remains to be pretty good.

My favourite 'Fast' Food....

'Fast Food', a type of food that plays an important role in our busy life. Regardless whether you are a student of a working adult, there ought to be numerous situations where limited time was given and you have to grab some 'fast food'. Therefore, I'm going to share my favourite 'fast food' in Singapore today. :P

And here comes...

'Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders Sandwich Combo'
Probably by taking a look at all the packaging, you probably can
guessed it correctly and yes, you can get this combo set is from
"Carl's Jr.".

But why do I love "Carl's Jr."?

'Drinks - Ice Lemon Tea'
Upon making a purchase for a cold drink, you will be given an
empty cup and you can help yourself to the unlimited beverages
servings. On top of that, if you are a 'Ice Lemon Tea' lover,
you can also add a few slices of fresh lemons into the cup too.
(Well, this reminds me of the good old days that I tend to buy a
drink and find a seat in "Carl's Jr." reading for more that half
of the day.)

Probably they are trying to maximise the output and reduce the
amount of time required in cutting the potatoes into fries,
therefore you can easily spot the skin of the potatoes on the
tip of the fries. Though the taste is pretty much the same
everywhere but they are giving away tubes of tartar sauce for
free and I love to dip my fries into tartar sauce before
I eat it. :) To some extent, I wonder am I eating tartar sauce
or am I eating fries... :P

Here comes the best part. :D
The burgers of "Carl's Jr.". Firstly, I love the way they are
making it. They will only start making and preparing the burger
upon placing an order for it. On top of that, you can also
request for extra toppings with additional charges. (I used to
go with Carl's Catch™ Fish Sandwich with extra fish patties. :P)
Secondly, the size of the burgers are pretty satisfying. I
have to open my mouth widely in order to bite the whole burger.
That's nice. :D Last but not least, the fresh ingredients
that they are using. I'm not sure about the hamburgers, but
as for the fish and chicken burgers, they are using good
quality meat and I'm loving it. :D Taste wise, I guess this
is one of the better 'fast food' chain in Singapore, especially
when all the burgers that they are offering has maintain a
pretty good balance between the meat and vegetables.
