The best pork here....

There are numerous stalls selling porky dishes over here. I have tried a few of them and this is definitely the best one. Not only this stall has the biggest range of porky dishes, it also tastes the best too.

'Pig Organ Soup'
I have actually tried almost every single item listed on their menu. There's
'Kway Chap', 'Braise Pork Knuckles', all the different porky soup, and also
'Pig Organ Soup'. Even without the bowl of soup, the different types of chilli
that they are offering over here are good enough to go with the bowl of rice
or soup. Though they are not very spicy, that the taste of the chilli are
pretty tasty, which is a (+).

The 'Yam Rice' over here are pretty ordinary. It doesn't comes with a lot of
'Yam', which doesn't excites me at all.

This is actually quite good. The uncle over here really throw in a lot of
ingredients into the bowl of soup. There's 'preserved vegetables', 'pig liver',
'meat balls', slices of pork, etc... I tried adding a piece of ingredient to
each mouthful of 'Yam Rice' but it appears that they is actually a much more
bigger portion of ingredients as compared to the bowl of rice. On top of the
tasty ingredients, the bowl of soup also comes with the nice porky taste too,
which pretty much explains why this is the most famous stall over here.

So where can you give the 'Pig Organ Soup' a good try?
The name of this stall would be '家鄉風味'.
It's located inside the coffee shop located in 'Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre'.

Need a bit more effort....

I don't mind walking long distance to give different types of food a good try. However, the stall over here lacks a bit of something I guess...

'Bak Kut Teh'
Having this for lunch can be a bit too heavy for normal eaters, but since I working
nearby, I guess I should give this a try too. The preserved vegetables taste pretty
alright. The standards of the sliced chilli and chilli sauce are chilli okay too,
which makes me wonder how the 'Bak Kut Teh' will end up to be. The the looks of it,
I hope that it doesn't end up to be too pepperish.... :|

For a start, the soup isn't too pepperish, which is a great relief. But the meat
of the ribs are a bit too stiff. Since this is 'Bak Kut Teh' and in order to
enhance the taste of the soup further, they should have added the 'Pork Ribs' into
the pot of soup pretty early, I'm expecting it to be chewy rather than stiff. As
for the thing that this stall is lacking? I guess that would be 'Luck'. Positioned
directly opposite is a stall selling something close to a 'Bat Kut Teh' and it's far
more better than this.

So where can you give this a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Xing Du Bak Kut Teh'(星都肉骨茶).
It's located inside the coffee shop located in 'Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre'.

Smart Way of doing things :)

Even if the location is pretty good, sustaining a business isn't such an easy task. As for this place...

'Nasi Lemak'
They have quite a wide spread of ingredients over here. There's the
interesting mix of fried ingredients and as you move forward, there's
the cooked dishes section. As for a start, the vegetables are a bit
too watery. Not that they ain't tasty, it's just that the texture
makes it pretty dull. As for the fried stuff, they aren't too oily
and it's pretty okay too. Best of all, the crunchy peanuts haven't
disappoint me yet. :D Though I wouldn't say that the food here
are fantastically great, but the portions here are pretty alright and
the price are pretty okay too. On top of that, they are opened for
more than 20 hours per day, so if you happen to be hanging around that
area at night and there's a sudden urge for food, this would be an
affordable place to chill out, eat and drink a bit. :)

So where can you give the food a good try?
The name of this place would be
'Fong Seng Fast Food Nasi Lemak'(冯星快餐椰子饭餐室).
It's located near the junction of 'Clementi Road' and 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

The organs hidden in a coffee shop...

How much good food can you get in the same coffee shop? I'm not sure about else where but over here, you can actually get more than one. For a coffee shop that occupies a small corner, that's pretty amazing.

'Pig Organ Set Meal'
As compared to a normal bowl of 'White Rice', I personally prefer
a bowl of 'Yam Rice' much much more.

'Yam Rice'
The 'Yam Rice' that they are offering over here really comes with
small chunks of 'Yam'. And the taste of it is something that one can
really look forward to. The sweet taste of the bowl of rice is a (+).

As for the bowl of 'Pig Organ Soup', they didn't pour lots of pepper
into the bowl, in fact rather than getting the overpowering pepperish
taste, I'm actually getting the nice taste of the salted vegetables.
As for myself, since I love the great taste of salted vegetables, I can
easily finish the whole bowl of 'Yam Rice' just by finishing the strips
of salted vegetables. But that's not all. Though it's a pretty small bowl
of soup, but there's actually quite a variety of ingredients. There's
'Liver', 'Belly', 'Meat Balls', etc... At the end of the day, the
delicious ingredients and the bowl of soup is worth the wait. In fact,
the biggest problem over here isn't queuing/waiting but the time needed
to find and secure a table during lunch hours :)

So where can you give the food a good try?
The name of this stall would be '5 Pig's Organ Soup'(5豬什湯).
It's located inside 'Ban Heng Restaurant'(徐萬興餐室), which is located
along 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

Queueing up for Instant Noodles...?

You probably have bought Instant Noodles before, but have you tried queuing up for Instant Noodles before? In fact, are you willing to queue up for it? I'm not sure about you, but I have definitely queue up for a bowl of Instant Noodles before. :)

Rather than making it longer and longer, they have replace the common
queuing system with all these electronic gadgets. Once you have place
your orders, the aunties over here will pass you an electronic gadget
that will start beeping when your orders are ready.

This would be my lunch the other day. In compromise of a bowl of
Instant Noodles and a bowl of soup that consists of both raw and fried
fish slices.

'Instant Noodles'
Covered with a small portion of fried shallots and lying inside a thin
layer of dark sauce, I would strongly encourage you to stir the whole
bowl of Noodles thoroughly, before digging into the bowl of Instant Noodles.
The springy and chewy Noodles are a big (+), but the sauce is a little salty.

'Bowl of Fish Soup'
As mentioned earlier, the fish soup consists of both raw and fried
fish slices. But if you are looking for a bigger slice of fish, you
will be pretty disappointed. Over here, they are giving you generous
portions of moderate slices of fishes. The taste of the fishes are pretty
alright and the soup has this nice sweet taste, which is worth another (+).

By the way, if you don't want to have it with a bowl of Instant Noodles,
you can always replace it with a bowl of rice or a normal bowl of Noodles. :D

So where can you give this bowl of fish soup a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Huang Ji'(黃記).
It's located inside 'Ban Heng Restaurant'(徐萬興餐室), which is located
along 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

Hot & Spicy Nasi Lemak

Speaking of 'Nasi Lemak', the first impression that most of the Singaporeans have would be cold and smells nice. However, I have eaten something different a few days ago.

'Jumbo Nasi Lemak'
It's still known as a plate of 'Nasi Lemak', however what makes it
special would be the ingredients that you are getting in one of the
'Nasi Lemak' set meals. For the 'Jumbo Nasi Lemak', it originally comes
with the Fried Fish(Selar), Fish Cake, Fish Fillet, Sausage, Cucumber
and Rice sitting on a very big piece of Fried Egg. Since I'm not sure
when I would have the time to visit this place again, therefore I have
added an additional piece of Chicken Luncheon Meat. Besides for the
range of 'Nasi Lemak' toppings/ingredients that they are offering over
here, they will only start preparing and cooking the ingredients upon
ordering. Therefore you will be experiencing a longer waiting time,
however the food over here are pretty good. The hot ingredients make
me pretty excited, especially when I started cutting the sausages into
smaller pieces, though the skin is pretty hard, the meat inside is chewy
and tastes pretty good. As I started digging into the other ingredients,
they not only tastes good, they are not oily and at the same time, my
scores for this plate of 'Nasi Lemak' gets higher and higher. Oh by the
way, the chilli that that comes with it has a pretty good fragrance and
it's pretty spicy and most importantly, it blends in with all the
ingredients pretty well. Too bad the amount of chilli that was given
isn't plenty. I guess the only weaknesses that the food over have would
be the price and the location. It's slightly a bit more costly than the
'Nasi Lemak' else where. However for the nice and unique experience, I
think that everything is worth it. :D

'BBQ Chicken Wing'
Besides for the 'Chicken Luncheon Meat', I have also added a piece of
'BBQ Chicken Wing' too, which is covered with Sweet and Sour Sauce.
I should have gone for the normal 'Crispy Chicken Wing' instead. Though
the taste and the texture of the 'BBQ Chicken Wing' is pretty good but
since it's covered with sauce, therefore it's kinda difficult to use my
hands to eat it. Therefore I ended up using a pair of fork and spoon
to break the 'Chicken Wing' into pieces before savouring it. :P

Anyway, where can you give a go at the 'Nasi Lemak' set meal over here?

The name of this 'Nasi Lemak' restaurant would be 'Hot & Spicy Nasi Lemak Family Restaurant'.It's located along 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

First attempt at Laksa Steamboat XD

For my entire life, I have been trying numerous type of steamboat with a variety of soup bases. It can either be spicy soup base like 'Tom Yum', 'Si Chuan Ma La' and non spicy soup base like 'Herbal Chicken', 'Chrysanthemum', etc. Despite having and trying so many different types of steamboat, my interest for it doesn't seems to decrease. Therefore ever since I pass by a steamboat restaurant offering 'Laksa' soup base steamboat, I told myself that I should give it a try someday. And it so so happen that someday appears to be pretty soon...

Steamboat with 'Laksa' base and 'Chicken Soup' base
Although they are only providing ala-carte style steamboat over here,
but we are having lots of fun too. After placing an order for more than
20 different types of ingredients, we were sitting around the spacious
round table with a steamboat pot in the middle, chatting away. (In fact
to some extent, the table was so spacious that there were a few moments
where all of us were standing up cooking and scooping out the ingredients
from the pot. :P) Anyway, the price that you are paying for each and
every plate of ingredients were pretty reasonable and the ingredients were
pretty fresh. On top of that, though they are not providing all the
ingredients at a corner of the restaurant, but at least this can keep the
amount of food wastage to the minimum and the freshness of the ingredients
to the maximum. Either ways, time for some food tasting.

Although the soup is meant to be for cooking the raw ingredients, but we
have thrown Noodles and Rice Vermicelli into the pot too. Trust me, this
is something that one must try over here. The standards for the 'Laksa'
soup base is pretty high. It's pretty sweet and delicious. I think I have
drank more than 4 or 5 bowls of soup with lots of different kinds of
ingredients. This is simply pretty much similar to a 'Laksa' buffet with
the idea of mix and match all the ingredients you want. XD

'Ice Jelly with Honey and Lime'
After giving this sinful steamboat a try, we might have spent an hour or
so chatting none stop and through my friends recommendation, I decided to
give this dessert a try. The refreshing sensation that you will be getting
from the dessert after giving the 'Laksa' steamboat a try is unbeatable.

So where can you give this 'Laksa' steamboat a try?

The name of this restaurant would be 'San Laksa steamboat'. Their
main branch is located along 'Telok Blangah Road', but what I have shown
here would be the newer branch that was located along 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours: 11am - 11pm
  • The main branch seems to be crazily crowded most of the time, therefore you probably might want to give the branch located along 'Pasir Panjang Road' a try, which is also less crowded, since it's open less than 2 months ago.
