It's Crystal yet affordable...

Pretty much similar to the affordable Taiwanese Porridge buffet at Quality Hotel, there's a cafe that has something similar too. However, in terms of price, this place is far more cheaper and the location is much more convenient too. :D

Weeeee, they have sweet potato porridge over here. That gives a pretty good
start. And they also have a pretty big spread of side dishes too. Just by
having these side dishes like these(pickles, peanuts, etc...) I can easily
gobble down a bowl of porridge. But that isn't the best part.

The real fun begins when you started going around the tables fishing out all
the main dishes. They have a pretty big spread over here. If you are a big fun
of braised dishes, there's Braised Egg, Braised 'Tau Pok'(Fried Beancurd),
Braised Pork Belly, Braised Beancurd, Braised 'Chicken Feet' etc... On top of
that, they also have Dishes like 'Salted Egg', 'Preserved Vegetables', 'Curry
Vegetables', 'Fried Fish', etc... Though, it's a pretty big spread, but I
personally find the dishes a bit too salty. Though most of the time, braised
dishes are a bit salty but it gets kinda disturbing when most of the dishes
are a bit salty. :D

Anyway even though I didn't took photos of the rest of the items, but the
buffet also includes pastry, sliced fruits, desserts and beverages. :D

One good thing I like about this place would be the fact that even though it's
on a weekday afternoon, this place isn't too crowded and I could slowly take
my own sweet time to pick and choose the dishes I like.

So where can you give this buffet a good try?
The name of this place would be 'Crystal Cafe'.

Marutama Dining

'Marutama Ramen' is my favourite Ramen in Singapore. Therefore, I decided to have my dinner at 'Marutam Dining' 2 weeks ago.

The selections at "Marutama Ramen" used to be pretty limited
back then. But, they have a bigger variety of food over here.
They even have 'Curry Rice', 'Hot Pot', etc...

'Ebi(Prawn) Ramen'
Even though it's known as 'Ebi Ramen', but it's actually the
original 'Marutama Ramen' topped with a few prawns and a slice
of lemon.
Note: the soup base of this Ramen couldn't be changed.

After squeezing the lemon, the taste of the soup becomes both
sweet and sour. And I still couldn't resist the delicious noodles
and flavoured egg that they are offering over here. However...

The prawns aren't suitable.
Although the prawns are pretty fresh, but when I have it
with the prawns, the taste ended up becoming pretty weird.
Well at the end of the day I still prefer the 'Nama Karashi
Ramen'(Ramen with Spicy Chicken Broth).

Here's the appearance of 'Marutama Dining'.
It's located along 'Killiney Road'.

Opening Hours:
  • Lunch: 11:30 - 15:00
    Dinner: 17:30 - 22:00

    Fridays and Saturdays

House of Chee Cheong Fun

Name the types of 'Chee Cheong Fun' that you have seen and eaten before. Probably one would have problem going beyond 5 different types of 'Chee Cheong Fun'. Or maybe if you are good enough, you might be capable of listing down 10 different types. However, over here they have managed to list down more than 20 different types of 'Chee Cheong Fun'.

'Char Siew(Barbecued Meat) Chee Cheong Fun'(美味叉烧肠粉)
From the looks of it, it really looks appealing. Just by taking a look
at the color of the 'Chee Cheong Fun', you can easily identify the
amount of ingredients that they have added into it. One thing for sure
they are really very very generous when it comes to the filling.

Taste wise, they have sprinkled lots of sesame all over the 2 rolls
of 'Chee Cheong Fun'. Each and every slice of 'Chee Cheong Run' comes
with the nice fragrance of sesame. As for the texture of the 'Chee
Cheong Fun' itself, the texture is silky smooth and at the same time
not too thin and too thick, which makes it perfect. Best of all,
there's a very nice balance between the ingredients used and the silky
texture. On top of that, even though the 'Chee Cheong Fun' is partially
submerged in the dark sauce but it's not salty at all. By the way, they
have also placed a bottle of chilli sauce on each and every table and
the taste of it could really blend with the 'Chee Cheong Fun' nicely.
Even though the chilli sauce isn't spicy enough. :P

See, I didn't trick you. They really have listed down more than 20
different types of 'Chee Cheong Fun' on their menu. And some of them
looks pretty interesting. For example, there's 'Durian Chee Cheong Fun',
'Tom Yum Seafood Chee Cheong Fun', 'Unagi Chee Cheong Fun', etc...
I think the biggest drawback would be the price that one would have
to pay for each and every roll of 'Chee Cheong Fun'.

The name of this place would be 'House of Rice Roll & Porridge'(粥肠粉之家).
It's located along 'Killiney Road'.
