This isn't a dream...

In this post, I'm going to write about a type of food that is pretty rare in Singapore. It's pretty much similar to a steamboat but at the same time they have their differences too. :S Getting confused? No worries. By looking at the following photos should give you a better idea, what I'm talking about. :P

Doesn't this looks like the pot that they are using for steamboat...
But what's with all the strange partitioning?

'Lok Lok'
Originated from Malaysia, pretty much similar to a steamboat, this
is the kind of food that you will be going with a group of people.
One can sit around the table, spend a bit of time chatting and
dipping skewered meat into the respective sides of the pot to cook it.
THe way of eating it is pretty much similar to the normal 'Satay'.

By the way, each pot comes with 2 different soup base, one would be a
the satay sauce while the other would be a completely different soup
base. As for us, we have chosen chicken soup base that day.

As for the skewered meat, there's a pretty wide variety of ingredients
for you to choose from. Meat alone, there's beef, pig intestines,
chicken wing, chicken, etc... There's seafood like cockles, crab meat,
fish balls, etc... On top of the above there's also sticks of
vegetables and ingredients that are pretty much similar to a
'Yong Tau Hu' stall. For example: bittergourd and chilli that are
filled with fish paste. As for my personal favourite? That would
be a skewer of special fish cake that is made up of a mixture of
fish paste and 'Otah' paste. It tastes like the normal 'Otah' but
has the texture of a fish cake and at the same time is slightly a
bit spicy. :D (With all the action going on, time really past very
very fast and it ended up to be a 2.5 ~ 3 hours meal. :P)

So where can you try this?

The name of this place would be 'Malaysia Local Delights'(大马风味).
It's located along 'Tanjong Katong Road'.
