The only Japanese Udon restaurant in Singapore?

In Singapore, there's a very big variety of 'Japanese restaurants'. For example: 'Ramen restaurants', 'Shabu Shabu restaurants', 'Japanese style drinking places', etc... However if you have the sudden urge of eating 'Japanese Udon', where can you go?

There's finally a Japanese Udon restaurant in Singapore.
The restaurant was opened a few weeks back and it's located
on level 1 of 'Liang Court' Shopping Mall.
The name of the restaurant would be 'Tamoya' and the photos
in the above shows the exterior of the branch in Singapore.

'Japanese Curry Udon'
In fact, going to give the 'Japanese Curry Rice' at 'Liang Court'
a try was my main reason for visiting the shopping mall.
However, I changed my mind, as soon as I saw the new 'Japanese
Udon restaurant'. Hence I ended up eating 'Japanese Curry Udon'
for dinner that day. In fact, I had a hard time selecting the
type of 'Udon' that I wanted to try, especially when there are
more than 10 different types of 'Udon' on the menu and the price
are pretty reasonable.

This is indeed 'Japanese Curry'. It's pretty sweet rather than
been spicy. And on top of that, one particular reason why I don't
really like to have 'Japanese Udon' in the local Japanese restaurant
was due to the fatal problem of the 'Udon' being too soft. However,
I don't experience the issue with the 'Udon' over here. In fact, the
'Udon' over here are pretty chewy, not too hard and delicious. Which
ended up to be pretty good dining experience.

Besides for 'Udon', they also prepare and sell Japanese delicacies
like Tempura, 'Onigiri'(Japanese Rice balls), etc...

Operating Hours:
  • 11:00am - 10:00pm

Rice Dishes that looks like a Sun

No one have eaten the sun before. However, do you know that there is a type of rice dish that looks pretty much similar to the sun? And that would be...

'Original Omelette Rice'(Upsize)
My first impression of this dish was beautiful.
The appearance reminds me of the bright and sunny sun.
Below the fluffy omelette egg was a plate of fried rice
and the dish is surrounded with a sweet tomato sauce.
Besides for the delicious taste of the Omelette rice,
the good balance between the omelette egg and the fried
rice are pretty good. In fact, the omelette egg are big
enough to sustain till the end, which is pretty rare.
Either ways, this is pretty delicious dish and I like
it pretty much.
By the way, the ice cold barley tea that comes for free
goes pretty well with the hot and humid weather in Singapore.

The name of this restaurant would be 'Pecori Japanese Egg Restaurant'.
It's located on basement 1 of 'Liang Court Shopping Centre'.

Operating Hours:
  • 11am - 10:00pm

Okinawa Diner Nirai Kanai

A few weeks ago, I was doing a bit of window shopping and I suddenly have the urge of having Japanese Set Meal for dinner. However, it's getting late, therefore it might be kinda difficult to find Japanese set meal at that hour. Either ways, I still ended up to be walking around 'Liang Court' and...

despite of the late hours (around 9:30pm), I still manage
to find a Japanese restaurant that is opened.
The name of the restaurant would be 'Okinawa Diner Nirai Kanai'
and it's located on level B1 of the shopping mall.
Besides for the common Japanese set meals, they are also offering
Okinawa set meals, sakes, Japanese Cold Noodles, etc...
Come to think of it, they do have a large list of food items for
an individual to give it a try. :D

I ended up ordering the Okinawa 'Simmered Pork' Set Meal.
The set meal comes with a bowl of Plain rice, Soup (Aosa-seaweed),
Vinegared vege dish, Fried meat miso, Peanut bran curd, and most
importantly a plate of 'Simmered Pork'. :D
However, I don't really like plain rice, therefore I decided to
give the 'Okinawa Seasoned Rice' a try.

The 'Okinawa Seasoned Rice' comes with a lot of vegetables
and it's pretty tasty. However the rice isn't free flow. ==""

Here comes the main dish 'Simmered Pork'.
The meat is pretty thick, isn't too salty and
most importantly it's pretty delicious.
And the Seasoned egg that comes with it is superb.

Add-on: Here's a photo of one of the infamous item in 'Okinawa'.
The name of this item would be 'Shisa'.
And I think that it looks kinda cute. :P

Anyway, if you happen to have a bit of spare time, you probably might want to give this restaurant a try. :D

The Old Pastries Section of 'Tampopo Deli', the New 'Dulcet & Studio'

A few weeks ago, I was informed by my friends that the Pastries section of 'Tampopo Deli' had move to a new location. Although it's a new location but in fact it's the same building but on a completely different level. However...

they have increased the variety of cakes on their menu.
The above shows the photo of one of the best-seller of this place.
It's knwon as the 'Tea Time Cake'. It's relatively cheap and it
acts as a mini version of the infamous chiffon cake of this place.

They have also increased the variety of chiffon cakes that they
are offering. The above shows the 'Maple Chiffon Cake'.
The texture of the cake are pretty much the same as before, but
aren't you excited with the choices that you can be getting? XD

Besides for the cakes, they are offering all sorts of western food at the new place too. :D

The above shows the exterior of the new place, which is known as
'Dulcet & Studio'. It's located on level 1 of 'Liang Court Shopping Centre'.

  • 10am - 10pm

'Clifford' Cake

I'm wondering is it me or age is catching up with me. Recently I tend to pay a visit to places that I haven't being to for a very long time else I tend to go back to eating places that I haven't been going for a very long time. The following would be one of my favourite eating places probably around 4~5 years ago...

Here comes

'Tampopo Deli'.
'Tampopo Deli' is currently located on basement 1 of 'Liang Court
shopping Centre' along River Valley Road.
I can still recall the types of pastry that I have bought here before,
I still miss those 1/2 priced delicious bento dinners and the number
of interesting memories that this place has given me...
(Although most of these memories are food related...:P)

'Cheese Chiffon Cake'
The above would be one of the speciality of this place.
Although these chiffon cake are more expensive that normal cakes,
no one can resist the soft, fluffy and delicious chiffon cakes. :D
Another interesting finding of the place would be the fact that
every now and then, they tend to come up with new ideas for the
chiffon cakes. Ex: Green tea flavoured, fruit chiffon cake, etc...
(Hmm.... I guess this would be the only Tampopo branch that I like...)

Note:
  • All the inexpensive and good bento will start to appear after 8pm.
  • The puddings and cream puffs are ultra addictive. Once you have tasted one, you will get hook on.

Have you tried eating Hainanese Chicken Rice for supper?

When you think of supper, what will can you think of? You will probably think of food that were smaller in size. For example: prata, porridge, dim sum... etc. But have you tried eating Chicken Rice for supper before? As for me myself, as long as I have the appetite, I don't mind eating steamboat, murtabak... etc for dinner. Especially after a long day at work, you will be amaze how big my appetite can be. :P

Here are the pictures I had taken at the Chicken Rice restaurant:

Nothing special here, just the usual rice that goes with chicken rice.

Golden tofu, which is actually Deep Fried Tofu.
Not too soft neither its too hard. This is just the correct touch.

Oyster sauce Cabbage
This isn't something special but one shouldn't be eating meat all the time.
Should try mixing each and every meal of the day with a bit of vegetables. :D

This is the main dish of the day. How can you step into a Chicken Rice Restaurant
without trying different slices of Chicken meat? In fact, I prefer eating slices
of white chicken as compared to any other types of chicken slices. :D

This is the store behind the photos of delicious looking food I have pasted
in the above. The name of the store would be 'Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice'

Some of the branches of 'Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice' open until 4 or 5am in the morning. So if you have a craving for 'Chicken Rice' in the middle of the night, you know where to get them. :D

Spize...

Nope, I didn't spell it wrongly and you are not in the wrong blog. This post is not going to write about the group 'Spice girls' but it's indirectly related to the topic of spices. The name of the shop is commonly known as 'Spize'. They have been serving a large variety of food ranging from Singaporean, Thai, Indian, Western & Mediterranean food. I used to hang out at the place quite frequently as the location was pretty near my workplace.

Without further ado, let me show you some of the pictures of what are the food that you can order at 'Spize'.

The Murtabak that they are offering were pretty generous in terms of the
size and the ingredients that they had stuffed in the Murtabak.
Note: Please either share the Murtabak with your friends or just eat the Murtabak as a whole meal as the size is really very big, else you have to bear the consequences....... Beware!!!

Generous portion of food and the price is very reasonable.

Though, I didn't tried this dish, but the looks of the dish is appealing to me. :D

The ingredients that were added to the rice were satisfactory, a bit spicy and a bit salty.
(Nasi Goreng is similar to the fried rice that we eat at a Chinese restaurant, but the ingredients used were different.)

The colors of the pineapple rice were equally spread and it looks delicious.
And trust me, the prawns were very big as for the taste I'm not very sure.
As my stomach was pretty full after eating a Chichen Murtabak by myself.

This drink is a combination of the following, Chinese tea, lime and lemon slices.
Trust me, it's a drink that you must try when you are going there for the first time.

Some after looking at all these photos, let's make a visit there now..... at 1am...:D

Note:
  • 'Spize' at River Valley are only open for dinner and supper
  • 'Spice' also provide delivery services, which is a +++
