A 'Rich' Sushi... :P

As suggested by the title, the Japanese restaurant is slightly a bit more costly as compared to the average Japanese restaurant, but the portion and taste are reasonably good. :) By the way, before I move on further, the name of the Japanese restaurant would be '富寿し'(Tomi Sushi) and the Japanese Kanji '富' means 'wealth' or 'fortune'. Anyway, since I have a voucher, rather than wasting it, I decided to give this restaurant a try. :D

While waiting for my dinner, I was taking some random shots of the restaurant. By the way, I only placed an order for an item on the menu. This might sounds pretty unlike me, but it's the truth. Especially when...

'Sashimi' Urm... A bowl, a tray, oh man how should I classify this? Anyway in order to preserve the freshness of the raw cuts of the seafood, rather than handling the customer a plate of raw cuts, they have made the extra effort placing the tray on top of a bowl of ice to preserve the freshness and the moist texture of the seafood. Anyway the cuts are pretty generous and not forgetting fresh. However I have seen something far more better during my trip to Japan this year, but in the local market, this is pretty good. :D

'Sushi' More raw seafood cuts, but this time round, it's prepared with Japanese Rice. One thing I like about Japanese Rice would be the fact that it's sweet and it doesn't stick unnecessarily. (That's probably why I love 'Yayoiken' that much.) Hmmm... I love this, at least the rice/ingredients proportion are pretty good. When I pop each of them into my mouth, there's a satisfying sensation and on top of that, I'm not getting the feeling that there's too much rice in my mouth.

Anyway, this would be the rest of the items that comes in my order. '寿し御膳'(Sushi Gozen) This would be the name of the set meal that I have ordered. Though it wouldn't be possible to cover all the Japanese cooking style in 1 single set meal, but it has covered most of the common stuff. Besides for the 'Sashimi' and 'Sushi', it also comes with 'Tempura', 'Chawanmushi'('Steam Egg served in a Tea Cup'), 'Miso Soup', etc... With a main dish and a few side dishes lying in front of me, too bad I don't have enough space for another bowl of rice, else I would have ordered it. At the end of this meal, I ended up leaving the place with a satisfying smile and a happy stomach, which is the most important part of a meal. :)

Ramen for a couple?

What kind of Ramen would be suitable for a couple? That would most likely be a bowl of Ramen that comes with a generous portion that can share among the 2 of them. And that will be the main subject of this post.

The interior of this Ramen place is pretty much similar to the other Ramen place elsewhere.

The ceiling of this place has been decorated with all these old Japanese posters.

I ended up placing an order for the infamous 'Volcano Ramen' of this place a few days ago.

They have laid a card on each of the table. On the card itself, it have clearly indicated the steps of preparing and cooking a delicious bowl of 'Volcano Ramen'.

The above shows the 'Volcano Ramen' that I have ordered. The chef has added lots of vegetables, slices of barbecued pork and Japanese noodles. The chef has used sweet Japanese Curry as the soup base for this generous bowl of Ramen. The taste of the Curry have blended into all the ingredients nicely. Furthermore, they have used the thinner type of Japanese Noodles over here, which really fit into with the taste of the Japanese Curry nicely. Best of all would be the bowl that they have chosen to serve the 'Volcano Ramen'. Rather than using a normal bowl, they have chosen a 'stone bowl' to serve the 'Ramen'. The 'stone bowl' not only acts as a beautiful visual element for a 'Volcano', it can also keep the food hot for a much more longer period of time. Interesting huh?

By the way, the barbecued pork that they are serving over here are not only thick, it's pretty delicious too.

By the way, the 'Volcano Ramen' also comes with a bowl of Rice. And I just couldn't resist the temptation of a delicious bowl of rice topped with lots of curry. (By the way, they are serving 'Volcano Ramen' with 4 different types of soup base over here. There's 'Curry', 'Soy Sauce', 'Salt Paste' and 'Miso'. Being a big fan of 'Curry' I will definitely place an order for the 'Volcano Ramen' with 'Curry' soup base. :D)

By the way, they have also provided various type of seasoning too. There's 'garlic', 'soy sauce', etc...

Time for SII...

Gotcha!!! I'm not going to write or blog about mobile phones over here but the subject of this post has some connections to 'SII'.

If you want me to describe the recent weather in Singapore by using a word,
I guess that would be 'unpredictable'. The weather can be pretty nasty.
You can start off the day with a crazily hot and humid weather followed
with a sudden rain for a while, then it becomes cloudy followed by a
heavy rainfall and it goes on and on. Kinda crazy hur. Due to the crazy
weather and my own temptations, I decided to go for some yummy ice cream.
Since my friend has been hanging out around 'Novena' area for the past few
years, he has recommend me this new ice cream place.

Choice of ice cream flavours starting from the one in the top middle and
I'm moving in a clockwise direction.

'Strawberry Brownie'
Though I'm not a chocolate fan, but this special blend is pretty sweet
and the brownie have been broken up into yummy bits.

'Sea Salt Caramel'
Too salty and the balance between the salty taste and the caramel isn't
good enough.

'Unknown'(But it's filled with Almonds)
Yummy Almonds, one of my favourites. Without the almonds, it's pretty
much normal.

'Rum & Raisins'
Too much 'Rum'. If you love the alcoholic taste, then this is a must try.

'Earl Grey'
Pretty much similar with the real thing, which makes it uniquely
interesting for an ice cream flavour.

'Coffee Crumble'
Too much 'Coffee', but it's suitable for everyone. :)
(I'm not a big fan of coffee but this is in fact pretty nice. :P)

So what's the link between 'SII' and ice cream?

The name of this place would be 'Scoops & Slices'. (See 2 Capital S)
It's located on level 1 of 'Goldhill Centre', which is pretty near
'Novena' MRT Station.
