Big slices of fish from China?

When you have a urge for fish meat, what is the best way to savour it? Rather than focusing on Noodle dishes today, I am going to introduce a stall that prepares a fish soup that comes with one of the biggest slice of fish in Singapore.

Well let as take a look at some photos of the food first :D.
This would be the main subject of this post.
Introducing the fish soup that comes with one of the biggest slice of fish in Singapore.
Let us talk about the soup first. It contains ingredients like big slices of fish,
bitter gourd and some other vegetables to enhance the taste of the soup. It isn't
an easy task to find clear fish soup with bitter gourd in Singapore anymore.
This is because most of them have move on to the step of adding milk into the
fish soup, which can be a bit too sweet for me sometimes. Anyway by taking a sip
from the fish soup reminds me of the good old days. (~.~)
Next, let us talk about the big slices of fish. Beside being one of the biggest
slice of fish for a fish soup in Singapore, the meat of each slice of fish is
firm yet tender. Here comes the best part, despite being the biggest, each slice
of fish were fully cooked. So what else can you ask for? :D
(By the way, the fish soup only cost me S$3.00 and a bowl of rice cost me S$0.50.
I personally think that it's pretty cheap especially when it's a delicious meal.)

Before I move on to the step of introducing the location of the stall, let us take
a look at part of the menu first. This stall also provides 'Oyster Soup/Noodles'.
For those who have eaten the 'Taiwanese' delicacy before can probably try this
and feedback how good or how bad the stall have been preparing this dish. :D

The name of the stall would be 'China Fish Soup'. I guess this should more or less
explains the title of this post. :D It is located on level 2 of 'Taman Jurong
Market and Food Centre'.

Note:
  • Stall Number: 02-75
  • Operating Hours: 8am - 8pm daily

Teochew Porridage for Lunch

While I was undergoing the search of the good 'Yam Cake' at Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre, I decided to make an effort to try some of the stalls there. This would be one of the stalls that I had tried at Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre. Since I haven't been eating Teochew Porridge for a very long period, I decided to give this stall a try. Especially, when the porridge that they have prepared had sweet potatoes in it.

Ya, I do understand that the pictures were pretty bad, but I wouldn't want to be taking shots in front of the stall. That won't be a very nice move. As for myself, I tried not to take pictures at a very close distance especially when these stall owners had to make an earning and they can be annoyed/disturbed by photo taking photographers.

This is it. After spending 5-10 minutes queueing up for the food, I have ordered a bowl of porridge and a few side dishes. :D After trying the porridge and the side dishes, this sort of explains everything. No wonder there's a long queue outside this stall. The sweet potatoes that comes with the porridge were neither too hard or too soft, which makes it perfect. :D On top of the porridge, the Fish Cake that they have made themselves were delicious. The fish cake not only contains fish meat, there's also some vegetables in it and somehow the taste of all the ingredients can blend perfectly together, which makes it ultra yummy. :D

Some notes to remember:
  • The store doesn't seems to be opened on Sundays.
  • Some dishes that one must try: Sweet Potatoes Porridge, Home-made Fish Cake, Squid

I am neither Liu Bei(劉備) nor Zhang Liang(張良) but...

Why did I wrote such a strange title for this post? This is because Liu Bei(劉備), a warlord, military general and later the founding emperor of the state of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms era of Chinese history, had made 3 visits to the place where Zhu Ge Liang(諸葛亮) was staying before he had an audience with him. Same goes for Zhang Liang(張良), a strategist and statesman of the early Han Dynasty, it took him 3 visits to the same bridge before he was given the book 'The Art of War by Taigong'. Similar to Liu Bei and Zhang Liang, I had made 3 trips to this market, and I finally get the chance to taste this delicious food.:D

As usual... photos comes first.

Woo... the shape looks nice and it looks like a cake. So what is this dish?

This is the one. This is known as a 'Yam Cake'. Although, this is pretty
common dish that you can find in most of the markets in Singapore,
it isn't that easy to find a store that makes it into a heavenly dish.
The 'Yam Cake' of this store was neither too soft or too hard and the
taste of the yam comes with every single bite from the 'Yam Cake'.
And the chilli that comes with the 'Yam Cake' was a +++.

This is the store behind this heavenly dish, besides selling 'Yam Cakes', various
kinds of kuehs that are meant for Breakfast. So where was this store located?
This store is located on the 2nd floor of Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre.

This was indeed a challenge to me, as travelling to and fro the market takes a bit of time.
Especially, when it was a disappointed trip, that makes it even harder for me to continue.
But the achievement was a memorable one. :D

Some notes to remember:
  • The store closes at/before 12 noon.
  • Try to be there before 11 as the store owner had mentioned that they will close for the day, once all the food had been sold out.

A type of Eastern Pizza?

Probably everyone had tasted or eaten a pizza before, but have you tried a Chinese 'Pizza' before? Or I think I could put it in this way, way can we buy or try a CHinese 'Pizza'?

As usual, my style:

This is it. A Chinese's style pizza. It's know as a 'Man Jian Kue'(面煎粿).
But this is a different kind of 'Man Jian Kue' that have been prepared with a
few different kinds of ingredients. The size of a 'Man Jian Kue' would probably be
similar to half the size of a small pizza.

The above would be a Special kind of Man Jian Kue with cheese, peanuts and egg. :D
Fattening, high cholesterol but delicious :D.

This is Man Jian Kue with carrots, onions and egg.

There also have some other favours of Man Jian Kue for you to try.
But, I still love the Man Jian Kue with cheese, peanuts and egg the most.
Cheap and delicious. Yummy :P.

This is how the store looks like. It's a store inside a coffee shop located near
the Taman Jurong Market and Food Centre. Besides for this coffeeshop, I happen
to knew that there is a similar store located in Lavender Food Square.

I hope you would love the Man Jian Kue as much as I do. V(O.O)V
