Better than the normal Chicken Nuggets...

Hmmm.... sometimes it might get pretty boring if you are sitting in a corner reading a book only. Therefore, things will get far more interesting if you can get yourself a beverage and some...

'Crispy Chicken Nugget'(香香炸雞)
The helpers just scoop out a tray of nuggets, therefore I'm getting all these
mist around the lens of my camera. Well, let me wipe my lens first...

As a snack, these golden brown bite size nuggets are pretty good. They are
pretty chewy and tender. Although, it's pretty juicy, but I personally find
it not juicy enough. Besides for the taste, 1 good thing that I like about
the texture of these Nuggets. They are not very oily and at the same time
they are not covered in a thick layer of flour. Anyway, taste wise, it's
pretty tasty and I'm also getting the spicy and fiery sensation too. In fact,
I don't feel thirsty at all, despite of the fact that I have eaten a big
packet of 'Nuggets'.

So where can you give the 'Nuggets' a good try?
The name of this shop would be 'J&G Fried Chicken'(继光香香鸡).

same time located near 'Bread Talk' too.

More of a Sashimi or more of a Rice Bowl?

In the past, most of the Chinese dishes will revolve around the idea of '色香味', which simply means that the chefs will try to make the dish as appealing as possible, and at the same time, the fragrance and the tastes have to be appealing. As we move forward, things have changed and now it has become '色香味意形养'. Besides for the looks, fragrance and the taste, the chefs have also found the shape, ambience and health to be pretty important too. Therefore, that's one of the main reason why I find Japanese food to be pretty interesting since most of the time, it can easily score high points in some of these areas...

'Seafood Rice Bowl Set'(海鮮丼定食)
Well, if you find the set meals during dinner to be pretty costly and
you really want to give the food of a Japanese restaurant a good try,
you probably want to give their set meals during lunch time a go first.
In order to attract the attention of the consumers, Japanese restaurant
around the world will prepare fantastic and inexpensive set meals to
attract the consumers and boast their business. In fact, there are times
where there are meals that are exclusive to lunch hours only. Therefore,
I decided to give the set lunch of this restaurant a try. :)

Not only it comes with 'pickles'(漬物) and 'Miso Soup'(吸い物:味噌スープ),
it also comes with 'Chawamushi'(蒸し物:茶碗蒸し), an appertizer(前菜) and
a plate of cut fruits(果物). I'm not going to spend too much time
describing how good these side dishes are, since these are just mainly
(+)/add-on's to the main dish. What I can tell you frankly would be the
fact that these dishes are pretty good and it doesn't comes with a lot
of artificial flavours.:)

For a start this looks pretty beautiful. The top layer has been covered
with all these brightly colored ingredients and more than half of the
layer are cuts from different types of fish('Sashimi'). Besides for
'Sashimi', it also comes with fish roe and 'Grilled Egg'(卵焼き). Though
I'm not a big fan of 'Sashimi' and I couldn't really tell what are the
different types of fishes that was given, or I could probably only
identify the common ones, what I do want to stress over here would be
the fact that all these cuts are pretty fresh and tasty. On top of that,
these cuts doesn't come with the cold and stale texture, which is one
of the most important point when it comes to 'Sashimi'. Looking at it
from a different perspective, the ingredients and the cuts are pretty
generous and to a certain extent, I think that I'm having a delicious
plate of 'Sashimi' more than a delicious seafood rice bowl. :D

So where can you give all these delicious Japanese dishes a good try?

Burning with Style?

After numerous weeks of eating and trying out new diners, I realised that I haven't been trying Indian food for quite some time. I started keeping a lookout for interesting Indian diners and I managed to come across... this.

'Papadum'
After placing my orders, this basket of 'Papadum' just appear out of
nowhere. While waiting for my orders, I decided to give the 'Papadum'
a go first. Well, the texture is reasonably crispy. Luckily, I was
dining alone, else it's kinda sad if I have to share this delicious
basket of 'Papadum' with a group of people.

'Spices / Sauces'
I don't think I have used any of these at all. And that just proves
how good the 'Papadum' and the subsequent food items are... :)

'Vindaloo Curry + Saffron Rice'
These are the items that I have ordered for my dinner the other day.

'Vindaloo Curry(Chicken)'
This is/would probably end up to be the most reddish portion of
Curry that I have seen for the year 2014. I was stirring it for a
short while and it seems that the texture of the Curry over here,
isn't watery at all. In fact, it's pretty thick and solid. Oh by
the way, as you placed an order for this, the waiter will ask you
to choose the level of spiciness that you want. On a scale of 1-10,
with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest level. Taste wise,
I would write about it in a short while. (Anyway, I ended up trying
level 7 :D.)

'Saffron Rice'
Hmmm, in fact I don't find this any different from the usual
'Biryani Rice' that I'm getting outside. However, one thing I
don't like about the food over here would be the portion. The
portion of the food over here just isn't big enough for me. :(

Once I started digging into both dishes, the colors of the Curry
looks pretty overpowering. In fact, it was really very spicy and
tasty. The first few spoonful might not have an impact on you, but
the tension will slowly build up and burn you inside out for a short
period of time. This in fact was pretty good. I wonder how the highest
level would ended up to be. Well, that's something that I'm pretty
interested to find out. On top of that, the boneless chicken that comes
with the Curry are pretty tender and well 'marinated' with the Curry.
However, to summarize the overall dining experience, I still find the
spicy Curry to be the most memorable part of that meal.

So where can you give the food a good try?

The length of a strand of Noodles...

Since this restaurant is located near one of my favourite Cinema Singapore, it never fail to attract my attention as I walk passed the restaurant back then. This post should give you a rough idea why I have decided to give this restaurant a try.

'Shanxi Noodle in Sparking Oil'(陝西油泼面)
The complimentary bowl of soup that comes with this is terrible. The taste is
a bit too bland for me and on top of that, it has no 'character'.... :P

Noodle wise, this is kinda special for handmade Noodles. It's much more broader
than the common flat 'Rice Noodles'. On top of that, it's far more chewy and
thicker than 'Rice Noodles'. However, even with lots of mixing and stirring, the
Noodles still ended up to be pretty dry for me. Though the sauce isn't salty at
all, and there's a fair portion of vegetables, but probably because it doesn't
comes with meaty ingredients, therefore I also find it kinda plain. :| I was
expecting it to be spicy but the kick isn't there to boast my interest at all too.

Though the first bowl of Noodles didn't turn out to be fantastic, but...

'Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles'(四川担担面)
All the Noodles dishes over here will come with a complimentary bowl of soup.

Unlike the previous bowl of Noodles, this comes with a good mix of Vegetables
and meaty ingredients. But this isn't interesting enough. The most interesting
part would be...

the length of the Noodles. There's only one strand of Noodles in this bowl.
I tried to mixed it thoroughly and I have difficulty finding the head and the
tail. In fact, they were boasting that the length of the Noodles can go up to
a length of 10 metres long. Taste wise, this is much better as compared to the
previous bowl of Noodles. The springy Noodles are not only chewy, there's a
good mix of meaty sauce too. To a certain extent, each individual bite comes
with a nice meaty sensation, which is not too salty too.

This might be one of the ideal place for a bowl of healthy Noodles. Though I
also find the strand of Noodles pretty interesting too.

So where can you give the Noodles a try?
The name of this restaurant would be 'Din Gi Noodle House'(鼎记面馆).
It's located on basement 2 of 'Plaza Singapura'.

Opening Hours:
  • 11:00 - 22:00 Daily

Getting Lucky with Wanton...

Can you really get lucky with 'Wanton'? I wonder. However, if one can really become lucky by eating 'Wanton' on a daily basis, then I don't mind giving it a shot. :P

In order to satisfy my hungry stomach and desire, rather than going for a plate
of 'Wanton' only, I decided to give the Dumplings a try too.

'Wanton Noodles'
For a start, I think that the noodles are not chewy and springy enough. In
fact, it's the slightly a bit more chewy and generous serving of 'Char Siew'
(Barbecued Pork) that persuade me to go on and on. This plate of noodles
might end up to be much more tastier if they have added a bit more sauce to
it and on top of that the 'Char Siew' requires a bit more effort improving it.
Currently, I find the Noodles a bit too dry even after I have spent a bit of
time stirring it. :| As for the 'Wanton', probably I have left it inside the
bowl of soup for too long, therefore they ended up to be a bit soggy. Though
there's a fair bit of meaty ingredients inside, but they are not as good as...

'Fried Dumpling'
Rather than serving it with a plate of mayonnaise, they are serving it with
a plate of sambal chilli over here. These golden brown 'Devils' are pretty good.
The crispy skin of these Dumplings are not too thick for a start and it's filled
with a generous portion of crunchy and meaty ingredients. After dipping it in
the chilli sauce, I quickly took a bit off one of them. Probably they have wrapped
a fair bit of ingredients inside each and every one of them, therefore I'm getting
the great sensation of the ingredients of the Dumpling bursting inside my mouth. :P

Compared to the normal 'Wanton', I think that the Deep Fried Dumplings fare much
better. However, even though the 'Wanton Noodles' over here is pretty normal, but
the great thing about it would be the price vs generous portion that makes it a
fairly good deal.

So where can you give the 'Fried Dumplings' a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Lucky Wanton Noodle'(好彩雲吞面).
