Rice Dishes that looks like a Sun

No one have eaten the sun before. However, do you know that there is a type of rice dish that looks pretty much similar to the sun? And that would be...

'Original Omelette Rice'(Upsize)
My first impression of this dish was beautiful.
The appearance reminds me of the bright and sunny sun.
Below the fluffy omelette egg was a plate of fried rice
and the dish is surrounded with a sweet tomato sauce.
Besides for the delicious taste of the Omelette rice,
the good balance between the omelette egg and the fried
rice are pretty good. In fact, the omelette egg are big
enough to sustain till the end, which is pretty rare.
Either ways, this is pretty delicious dish and I like
it pretty much.
By the way, the ice cold barley tea that comes for free
goes pretty well with the hot and humid weather in Singapore.

The name of this restaurant would be 'Pecori Japanese Egg Restaurant'.
It's located on basement 1 of 'Liang Court Shopping Centre'.

Souperholic...

I love to drink soup and I'm not restricting it to Chinese Soup only. I love to drink Western Soup like Clam Chowder, Corn Soup, Pumpkin Soup, Mushroom Soup, etc... too. Therefore...

'Boston Clam Chowder'
Probably the chefs are trying to maintain the balance beam of taste and
healthy eating, therefore I personally find the texture of the soup pretty
thick, however the taste of the soup isn't strong enough. It probably will
become much more richer in taste if they have added a bit more seafood and
reduce the amount of vegetables that was added into the soup. However that
will make it more more unhealthy. :P The yeast bread roll that comes with
it is pretty good too and it can blend with the soup nicely.

'Ice Lemon Tea'
This is pretty sweet and the taste of the lemon is crazily strong.

'Mushroom Pesto Half Sandwich'
I didn't expect the sandwiches over here to be so good too. Though it
doesn't comes with a lot of meaty ingredients, but the yeast bread and
the tasty ingredients are pretty nice. Too bad the sandwich is too big
in terms of the height, else I would have the urge of gobbling the
sandwich immediately. :P

So where can you have the tasty food shown in this post?

The name of this restaurant would be 'The Soup Spoon'.
They have a few branches island-wide.

Notes:
  • The opening hours of most the branches are from 10am - 10pm. However, do take a look at the website of 'The Soup Spoon' to double check.
  • By the way, if you are going for the 'Super Value Meal' for the first time, please go for the regular bowl of soup first as the set meals are pretty filling.

Hot & Spicy Nasi Lemak

Speaking of 'Nasi Lemak', the first impression that most of the Singaporeans have would be cold and smells nice. However, I have eaten something different a few days ago.

'Jumbo Nasi Lemak'
It's still known as a plate of 'Nasi Lemak', however what makes it
special would be the ingredients that you are getting in one of the
'Nasi Lemak' set meals. For the 'Jumbo Nasi Lemak', it originally comes
with the Fried Fish(Selar), Fish Cake, Fish Fillet, Sausage, Cucumber
and Rice sitting on a very big piece of Fried Egg. Since I'm not sure
when I would have the time to visit this place again, therefore I have
added an additional piece of Chicken Luncheon Meat. Besides for the
range of 'Nasi Lemak' toppings/ingredients that they are offering over
here, they will only start preparing and cooking the ingredients upon
ordering. Therefore you will be experiencing a longer waiting time,
however the food over here are pretty good. The hot ingredients make
me pretty excited, especially when I started cutting the sausages into
smaller pieces, though the skin is pretty hard, the meat inside is chewy
and tastes pretty good. As I started digging into the other ingredients,
they not only tastes good, they are not oily and at the same time, my
scores for this plate of 'Nasi Lemak' gets higher and higher. Oh by the
way, the chilli that that comes with it has a pretty good fragrance and
it's pretty spicy and most importantly, it blends in with all the
ingredients pretty well. Too bad the amount of chilli that was given
isn't plenty. I guess the only weaknesses that the food over have would
be the price and the location. It's slightly a bit more costly than the
'Nasi Lemak' else where. However for the nice and unique experience, I
think that everything is worth it. :D

'BBQ Chicken Wing'
Besides for the 'Chicken Luncheon Meat', I have also added a piece of
'BBQ Chicken Wing' too, which is covered with Sweet and Sour Sauce.
I should have gone for the normal 'Crispy Chicken Wing' instead. Though
the taste and the texture of the 'BBQ Chicken Wing' is pretty good but
since it's covered with sauce, therefore it's kinda difficult to use my
hands to eat it. Therefore I ended up using a pair of fork and spoon
to break the 'Chicken Wing' into pieces before savouring it. :P

Anyway, where can you give a go at the 'Nasi Lemak' set meal over here?

The name of this 'Nasi Lemak' restaurant would be 'Hot & Spicy Nasi Lemak Family Restaurant'.It's located along 'Pasir Panjang Road'.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours:
    9am - 1am (Sundays - Thursdays)
    8am - 2am (Fridays - Saturdays)

Small Chilli... but not Chilli Padi...

After spending half of the day cycling a relatively long distance, since I haven't been eating spicy stuff for a pretty long period, I decided to treat myself to something spicy. Therefore...

'Long Jing Tea'(龙井茶)
Since the charges for all the different types of Chinese Tea over here
are the same, I decided to go for some Chinese Green Tea. Probably I
have been drinking too much 'Black Tea' or 'Pu-Er Tea', therefore I find
the taste of this tea slightly a bit too light. :|

'Si Chuan Style Spicy Chicken'(口水鸡)
In short, this is a plate of white cold tender chicken covered with spicy
sauce. In fact, the white chicken is pretty much similar to the Hainanese
chicken that you can get from a chicken rice stall. However, probably they
have reduce the amount of chillies or spices into the dish, therefore I
personally find the dish a bit too boring or perhaps it's my tolerance
for spicy stuff have gone up again?

'Si Chuan Zha Jiang Noodles'(川味炸酱面)
Pretty much similar to the previous dish, though the noodles are pretty
good, but the amount of spicy sauce isn't sufficient enough. Most
importantly, this dish isn't spicy enough. Though the balance between
the ingredients were maintained properly, but like what I said, by adding
a bit more sauce and a bit more spicy touch to this dish will definitely
make it much more interesting.

'Si Chuan Style Boiled Fish'(水煮鱼片)
Though most of the dish over here isn't spicy enough, but they have
managed to present the good old 'Si Chuan' style dishes over here. As for
'Si Chuan' dishes, besides for being spicy, you should be also be getting
a certain degree of numbness on your tongue, as you eat 'Si Chuan' dishes.
Well, though the spicy taste haven't really blend into the slice fishes,
but it's pretty satisfying already. If they have boiled it a bit more
longer, the fishes would have tasted even much more heavenly. By the way,
vegetables and the taste of the soup is something that one can really
look forward to. :P

'Spicy Dumplings'(红汤抄手)
Though this and the upcoming dish are 'dumplings', but this comes with
a bowl of spicy soup. However, it's not spicy enough and I think that
too much soup was given, therefore the dumplings are a bit too soggy.:(

'Rainbow Dumplings'(彩虹特色蒸饺)
Yellow - 'Crabmeat Steamed Dumplings'(蟹肉南瓜蒸饺)
Orange - 'Shrimp Steamed Dumplings'(虾肉胡萝卜蒸饺)
White - 'Tofu Steamed Dumplings'(白菜豆腐蒸饺)
Brown - 'Mixed flavour Steamed Dumplings'(三鲜蒸饺)
Purple - 'Pork Steamed Dumplings'(猪肉四季豆蒸饺)
Green - 'Chives Steamed Dumplings'(韭菜鸡蛋蒸饺)
How should I put it, I think that out of all the 6 different flavours,
I personally find the seafood dumplings to be much more delicious.
As most of the dumplings out there are stuffed with pork meat, but
dumplings stuffed with seafood are pretty rare. The strong taste and
fragrance that comes from the seafood are delicious reasons for you
to scream out loudly, Delicious~~~~~

'Mango Pomelo Sago Sweet Soup'(杨枝甘露)
Probably the chefs are much more skilful in the preparation of 'Si Chuan'
style dishes. Therefore the dessert isn't exciting enough or perhaps it's
due to the fact that the earlier dishes are much more stronger in taste?

So where can you try all these dishes?

The name of this restaurant would be 'Xiao La Jiao'(小辣椒) and if you are doing a direct translation of the words (小辣椒), it literally means small chilli. Anyway this restaurant is located inside '112 Katong Shopping Mall'.

Smells good but ...

I don't really know how to appreciate a good cup of coffee. To some, coffee would be the option to keep them awake but as for myself, it's the other way round. Coffee makes me sleepy. :P Anyway...

A cup of 'Kopi'(Coffee in Malay)
I have to admit that this cup of coffee smells pretty good. It have
given me the nostalgic moments. It reminds me of the good old days
where packets of coffee were served in small metal tin cans. The
taste, the good old memories would be something that one could never
forget. As and when you started drinking, the taste of it isn't as
bad as I thought. Probably because I have gone for the normal coffee
that comes with milk, therefore it's not too bitter. (In fact, if
I'm not mistaken, they have added 2 different types of milk into the
small little cup of coffee. Probably that's their secret to the nice
fragrance and the good taste?)

'Kaya Bread'
Though the way they have prepare it were pretty much the same as
the other places out there, but they are not adding thin slices
of butter into the 'Kaya Bread'. Though the idea of adding a thin
slice of butter into the 'Kaya Bread' is pretty convenient, but if
you don't have a big mouth as I do, you will realise that the butter
isn't evenly spread. This would be a reason that the older 'Kaya Bread'
are much better. Though the making and preparing process might be
longer, but the butter and 'Kaya' were evenly spread. :D

So why can you try this?

The name of this place would be 'Nanyang Old Coffee'(南洋老咖啡).
They have a few outlets island-wide. What I have shown here
would be the branch located in 'Chinatown MRT'.

Notes:
  • I'm not sure about all the outlets, but the outlets located around 'Chinatown' area closes at around 6pm. They sure do close pretty early. But come to think of it, 'Kaya Bread' and 'Coffee' are much more suitable to be taken for 'Breakfast' or 'Lunch' and not 'Dinner'. :D

Crocodile Brand

Crocodile, what can we do with it? Well, the first thing that comes to your mind would most likely be the leather goods, but that isn't everything. What interest me would be the meat... Whahahahaha

'Crocodile Bak Kut Teh'(鳄鱼肉骨茶)
Looks pretty decent, which kinda took me by surprise. If I didn't place the
order myself, I wouldn't have realise the fact that this is a 'Crocodile
Bak Kut Teh' set, since the appearance looks pretty much similar to a normal
'Bak Kut Teh' set. (Hmmmm... I wonder am I expecting something funky?)

But as you start digging into the ingredients of the soup, things will
start to look more and more funky. :P Just for the meat that I'm getting,
besides for the body, I think that I'm getting one of the feet too. Just
by looking at the shape of it, simply explains everything. Taste wise, I
myself thinks that the crocodile meat is pretty much similar to pork. It's
pretty tender and chewy like pork meat, but probably due to the
overpowering herbal soup that comes with it, therefore I can't really
figure out the taste that comes with the meat. Probably I should go for
the other type of soup the next time round. Anyway if you cannot take
pork for some reason, you probably can give this a try. Trust me it's
a pretty good substitute for pork meat. (I'm not referring to the taste
of the meat only. The nutrition value of Crocodile meat seems to be
much more higher too. :D)

So where can you give Crocodile meat a try?

The name of the stall would be 'Crocodile Kingdom'(鳄鱼大王).
It's located inside 'Old Airport Road Food Centre'.

Beyond a simple Kaya Bread

To most of the Singaporeans, 'Kaya Bread' would simply be 2 slices of toasted bread with 'Kaya' and 'Butter'. Though the the butter can varies but eventually it's pretty much the same. However...

Left: Tea
Top Right: Orange Ciabatta Kaya Bread
Bottom Right: Kaya Bread
The 'Tea' and the 'Kaya Bread' that you can get from this place are
relatively good, but those aren't the main focus of this post.

The main focus over here would be the 'Orange Ciabatta Kaya Bread'.
So what makes this 'Kaya Bread' so special?
First of all, though they are using a completely different type of bread
but the texture of the bread is much more softer and it blends in
with the 'Kaya' spread pretty well. :D Secondly, the taste of the
'Kaya' bread were pretty much similar with the normal 'Kaya' bread,
but it comes with a strong fragrance of sun-dried tangerine peel,
which smells pretty good, but would this be the furtherest that they
can go? I will definitely be looking forward with their next
innovative idea. :P By the way, last but not least, though the size
is slightly a bit small, but it's definitely a good idea to have this
for breakfast or high tea and at the same time doesn't ruin your
appetite for a satisfying lunch or dinner. (:P)

So where can you give the 'Orange Ciabatta Kaya Bread' a try?

The name of this coffee shop would be 'Good Morning Nanyang Cafe'(早安南洋).
Though I think that they have a few outlets island-wide, but I have only
given the outlet located at 'Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green CC' a try.

Notes:

Time for SII...

Gotcha!!! I'm not going to write or blog about mobile phones over here but the subject of this post has some connections to 'SII'.

If you want me to describe the recent weather in Singapore by using a word,
I guess that would be 'unpredictable'. The weather can be pretty nasty.
You can start off the day with a crazily hot and humid weather followed
with a sudden rain for a while, then it becomes cloudy followed by a
heavy rainfall and it goes on and on. Kinda crazy hur. Due to the crazy
weather and my own temptations, I decided to go for some yummy ice cream.
Since my friend has been hanging out around 'Novena' area for the past few
years, he has recommend me this new ice cream place.

Choice of ice cream flavours starting from the one in the top middle and
I'm moving in a clockwise direction.

'Strawberry Brownie'
Though I'm not a chocolate fan, but this special blend is pretty sweet
and the brownie have been broken up into yummy bits.

'Sea Salt Caramel'
Too salty and the balance between the salty taste and the caramel isn't
good enough.

'Unknown'(But it's filled with Almonds)
Yummy Almonds, one of my favourites. Without the almonds, it's pretty
much normal.

'Rum & Raisins'
Too much 'Rum'. If you love the alcoholic taste, then this is a must try.

'Earl Grey'
Pretty much similar with the real thing, which makes it uniquely
interesting for an ice cream flavour.

'Coffee Crumble'
Too much 'Coffee', but it's suitable for everyone. :)
(I'm not a big fan of coffee but this is in fact pretty nice. :P)

So what's the link between 'SII' and ice cream?

The name of this place would be 'Scoops & Slices'. (See 2 Capital S)
It's located on level 1 of 'Goldhill Centre', which is pretty near
'Novena' MRT Station.

Breakfast @ Night

Have you ever dreamed of having 'America Breakfast' for Breakfast? What if the idea of having 'America Breakfast' for Lunch or Dinner isn't a dream too. Wouldn't that make your life much more happier? (:D) Introducing...

"Loft's Breakfast"
This is a luxurious breakfast. It reminds me of the good old days when I
travelled overseas. The breakfast set comes with 'Scrambled Eggs', 'Bacon'
'Sausage', 'Ham', 'Mushrooms', 'Tomato', 'Yogurt' and 'Pancakes'.
Probably the shop owner has the same passion as I do, he probably miss
the 'American Breakfast' pretty much as I do, therefore and he has
decided to offer the set meal throughout the day.

Anyway taste wise, besides for the 'Yogurt', which tastes too 'sour'
the rest of it are pretty delicious. For instance, the 'Scrambled Egg'
isn't too watery and too soft. You can cut it into multiple pieces and
use a fork to scoop up the egg easily. :) As for the meaty stuff, it's
pretty well done and beautiful. :D Just for the above, I think this
'America Breakfast' deserves a lot of '+'. But that's not all...

In the past, when I have a lust for 'Pancakes', the first option will
ended up to be a fast-food restaurant. However since it's a fast-food
restaurant, the 'Pancakes' will always ended up to be pretty soft and
thin, which is kinda... ==""" Though the taste is acceptable but it
ain't satisfying enough. As you can see, though the 'Pancakes' over here
aren't too big nor too small, but they are definitely much more thicker.
And it's much more solid than the 'Pancakes' that you are getting at a
fast-food restaurant. Though the 'Pancakes' are covered with sprinkles
of Sugar, but it will taste much more heavenly when you have covered it
with the syrup that comes with it. :D Simply Irresistibly Yummy~~~

So where can you have the luxury of having 'Breakfast' at night?
The name of this restaurant would be 'The Loft Cafe'.
It's located along 'South Bridge Road' and it's within 10 - 15 minutes
walking distance from 'Chinatown MRT'.

More Crazy Seafood... :P

Before we end our journey at 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre', we are going to have more yummy seafood. Here comes...

'Sambal Stingray'
This is one of my favourites. No matter where I dine, as long as it
serve seafood, I would definitely order the 'Sambal' style 'Stingray'.
This dish was coated with a thick layer of 'Sambal' chilli mixed with
shrimps. Ever though there isn't a lot of 'Stingray' meat but the
spicy taste and the nice fragrance of the dish have satisfied my
taste bud thoroughly. :D

Top Left: 'Sambal Stingray'
Top Right: 'Sambal Sotong(Squid)'
Bottom: 'Salad You Tiao(Deep Fried Strip of Dough)'
As for the 'Sambal Sotong', I think that the chef have added too much
'Sambal' chilli. Even though I don't mind the spicy taste, but I think
some of my friends have some difficulty eating it. (:P) Besides for the
crazy spicy taste, the only thing that you will be getting would be the
chewy taste of the 'Sotong'. You still might be getting a bit of 'Sotong'
taste but it's pretty vague.

As for the 'Salad You Tiao', I was expecting a strong 'Sotong' fillings.
However, the taste of the fillings isn't obvious enough. Some of us were
arguing over the fillings that they were using in this dish. Though the
texture of the 'You Tiao' were pretty crispy, but the filling isn't chewy
enough, which makes it pretty dull. :(

So where can you give all these indulging seafood a try?

The name of this stall would be 'Boon Tat Street BBQ Seafood'
(文达街烧烤海鲜). It's located inside 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

Gong Gong but not refering to Grandpa

Since our friend is approaching the 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre' it's almost time for us to go for the heavier stuff. Since some of us haven't tried the following dish before, this would be a good opportunity to try it.

Steamed 'Gong Gong'(Conch)
Since the other stall doesn't have any more supply of 'Gong Gong',
therefore we have to ask around for it. Luckily we managed to find
a stall that serve it. The meat was hidden within the shell and you
have to use a toothpick to fish out all the meat from the shell.
Basically the meat was pretty chewy and the odour isn't as strong
as cockles. I knew that some people out there would like to savour
it with a bit of chilli but as for myself, I prefer to have it
without any other additional flavouring.

So where can you try the dish?

The name of the stall would be 'Chomp Chomp BBQ Seafood'(忠忠海味园).
It's located inside 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours:
    5pm - Midnight
    (Closed on Mondays)
  • Their services are pretty fast and the waiting time isn't as long as the other stalls. :D (Probably because the stall is much bigger too. :P)
  • By the way 'Gong Gong' in Mandarin can be '公公', which means Grandpa. (That should help you guys to figure out the weak link in the title of this post.)

Another Interlude: Time for some Biryani

I must confess that I'm not really a 'Rice' person. My passion for 'Noodles' were far more stronger than 'Rice'. However, there were exceptions. If it is 'flavoured' rice like 'Fried Rice', 'Pandan Rice', etc... My tolerance for it will be far more higher than the usual 'White Rice' or 'Brown Rice'. And today's post have something to do with 'Rice'. :D

'Chicken Biryani Power'
Though it is still 'Chicken Biryani', but the stall owner has given it
a slightly more interesting name. When it landed before me, everything
looks pretty normal. There's a small mountain of 'Biryani Rice' covering
the Chicken, some vegetables on the side of the plate, a 'Papadum' on the
other side of the plate and a plate of curry. But looks can be deceiving.

Probably I haven't been having good local curry for a pretty long
period of time, but the sensation that this curry have been giving me
were pretty good. :D After pouring all the curry onto the 'Chicken
Biryani' and after I have pop a few mouthful of the curry and the
'Biryani Rice' into my mouth, it have created a few fiery sparks in my
throat. And rather than stopping me from eating, it have in fact
increase my appetite asking for more. :P Though the taste of the chicken
were pretty normal, but the taste of the side dishes and the curry have
definitely help it to gain some extra points over here. By the way, it
have been ages since I have last seen 'Papadum' that comes with such
a good crispy texture. Since I always leave the 'Papadum' to the last,
therefore it always ended up to be a been soft, but it doesn't happen
to the 'Papadum' over here, which makes it pretty good too. :D I wonder
when will I get the chance to try the 'Chicken Biryani' over here again.

So when can you try the 'Chicken Biryani Power'?

The name of this place would be 'Dil'B Restaurant'.
It's located along 'Changi Village Road'.

Mee without Lard... ?

Hey, I'm still a human being not a poultry. Anyway back to our adventure in 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'. After giving more than 2 or 3 dishes a try, we decided to move towards the 'heavy' stuff. Introducing...

'Fried Hokkien Mee'
I have mentioned earlier that in Singapore, you can get 2 or more
different variations of the 'Fried Hokkien Mee'. As for the 'Fried
Hokkien Mee' over here, it's the dryer version of 'Fried Hokkien
Mee'. Besides for the way of preparing it, the proportions of the
Noodles to Bee Hoon over here would most likely be 1:4. Besides
for that the main ingredients of this dish were merely bean sprouts
and prawns. I'm pretty amazed that they didn't include ingredients
like 'Sotong' and 'Pork Lard', but yet they still can managed to
attract such a big crowd in patronising this stall.

Taste wise, since it's pretty dry, the Noodles still have this
smooth, springy, chewy touch. At the same time, based on the
taste that I'm getting, I think that the chef have added a bit
of pork soup into the 'Wok' while frying the dish. And when you
mixed the whole dish with the chopped chillies and the grind
chilli paste, topped with a squeeze of lime, the whole dish will
become heavenly. Oh Yummy... :P

So where can you give this dish a try?

The name of this stall would be 'Ah Hock Fried Hokkien Noodles'
(亚福炒福建虾面). It's located inside 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

Notes:
  • Operating Hours:
    5pm - 11pm
  • By the way, though the stall helper has estimated a waiting time of 15 minutes, but I think that we have waited for long than 30 minutes for a plate of 'Fried Hokkien Mee'. Therefore, if you want to reduce the amount of waiting time, Think Smart, Act Smart. :D

Time for more Satays

Since we have to wait for our friend, we decided to kick off our dinner with some delicacies first. And at the same time, these dishes have to be some light stuff. Otherwise, we might ended up with a pretty awkward situation... with a group of us looking at a person having his own dinner... ==""" Therefore...

'Satay' - A mixture of Chicken, Mutton and Pork Satay
Just by looking at the skin colour of the 'Chicken Satay', one could
easily identify one thing. The skills of the satay stall owner is
amazingly good. You are not getting a lot of burnt bits on the 'Satay'
yet they were prepared deliciously. Either we were starving or the
'Satay' were amazingly tasty that we manage to finish the whole
plate of 'Satay' within minutes. (I wanted to type 'seconds' but that
would be a bit too exaggerating, since there was 30 sticks of 'Satay'
and there's only 4 of us... :P) Despite of the good 'Satay', the taste
of the 'Satay' rice and the 'Satay' sauce were pretty normal and the
amount of 'Satay' sauce that was given was definitely not sufficient.
(At least, not sufficient for 30 sticks of 'Satay'...) Too bad, I
can't get the sauce from some other places that serves good 'Satay' sauce.

'Rojak'
This stall also sells pretty good 'Rojak' too. Though I'm not really
a die hard 'Rojak' fan, but for some strange reason, it have manage
to attract my attention and I ended up grabbing a few bites from this
dish. Probably it's either the amount of nuts that was sprinkled on top
of it or maybe its the sauce that attracts my interest or maybe it's the
slightly a bit spicy taste that has attracted my interest. Either ways
we managed to empty the whole plate of 'Rojak' without any difficulty
so I guess that should explain how good it is. :P

So where can you give the delicious 'Satay' and 'Rojak' a try?

The name of this stall would be 'Traditional Hai Nam Fang Yuan Satay'
(傳統海南芳園沙爹). It's located inside 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

Interlude: Have a break, have a healthier drink

Do you still remember about the existence of the village of 'A'? I was passing by that place a few days ago and I decided to go in and have a mug of 'A' juice.

'Avocado Juice'
Rather than sticking to the same old stall, I decided to have a mug
of 'Avocado' Juice from one of the stalls located near 'Avocado King'.
Pretty much similar from what you are getting from 'Avocado King',
the juice that I'm getting tastes pretty much the same. It also comes
with a smooth, thick and creamy texture and this would be a pretty
good alternative if the queue for 'Avocado King' is too long. :D

Okay, since the village of 'A' is so big and there are a few stalls selling 'Avocado Jucie', so which one am I referring to?

The name of this stall would be 'Mr Avocado: EXOTIC JUICE'.
Though I have mentioned it earlier, but this stall is located
inside the village of 'A'.

Moving a step into the past...

If an individual has been staying/living in Singapore for a very very long time, you probably have eaten a simple plate of 'Carrot Cake' before. As far as I know, the 'Carrot Cake' during the 80s and 90s were slightly a bit different from what we are getting today.

'White Carrot Cake'
Though the 'Carrot Cake' over here looks pretty much the same as what
what you are getting elsewhere, but in fact there's a hidden ingredient
to it. The secret ingredient would be prawns. XD As far as I can remember,
most of the 'Carrot Cake' stalls out there used to have this. However,
probably due to the increase in their expenses, most of the stall owners
have dropped the idea of including prawns in their 'Carrot Cake'. That's
just too bad... :(

Anyway, the texture of the 'Carrot Cake' were pretty soft and by adding
a bit of chilli and a few prawns into the 'Carrot Cake', it have
definitely push it to a completely different level. Taste wise, though
it's much more lighter than the normal 'Carrot Cake', by taking a few
bites from this 'Carrot Cake', it have definitely open up my appetite for
more food. :P Especially, when the 'white Carrot Cake' were meant to be a
healthier variant of 'Carrot Cake', it acts as a pretty good appetizer too.
So what are we having next?

By the way, where can we give this 'Carrot Cake' a try?

The name of the stall would be 'Carrot Cake'(菜頭粿).
It's located inside 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

The Search for the Biggest Mug of Sugarcane Juice

For the next 2 weeks, I would probably be posting about our findings at one of the infamous food centre of Singapore. For a start here comes...

'Biggest Mug of Sugarcane Juice' in Singapore?
I guess the caption for this photo has pretty much explain
everything. The size of the mug was probably 3 or 4 times bigger
than the average mug of a 'Sugarcane Juice'. Despite of the
humongous mug that you are getting, the taste of the 'Sugarcane
Juice' are pretty concentrated. Best of all, the owner has
provided 2 separate straws for each mug. Therefore if you want to
share your drink with another 'friend', you can do so...
(Scenes of 'Lady and the Tramp' started flashing...)

By the way, where can you give this cooling drink a try?

The name of this stall would be 'Muar Sugarcane'(麻坡甘蔗王).
It's located inside the infamous 'Chomp Chomp Food Centre'.

Notes:
  • Business of this stall seems to be pretty good and they tend to forget about their orders. Therefore, I would highly suggest that you should try asking them again if you have waited for more than 15 minutes. :D
