Burgers R Not Fast Food! (Closed)

After placing your orders, usually how long does it take for the waitress to prepare and deliver the burger to you? Is it faster than 5 minutes or how about 10 minutes? In fact, I was waiting for my burger orders for more than 20 minutes the other day.

Looks pretty ordinary right? Go ahead, give it a try, try guessing what sort of
burger this is. (Or you can just simple continue reading... :D I doubt that
anyone can guess it correctly, unless you have eaten it before. :P)

'Choco Lamb Burger Set Meal'
Here comes the interesting part. Everyone knows that mutton meat have this strong
odour/flavour and in order to made it much more tastier, some chef tends to add
a lot of spices or ingredients to suppress the strong mutton taste. Therefore as
for this burger, they have come up with the interesting idea of adding 'Nutella'
as one of the main ingredients. They are using the sweet, thick, chocolatey
'Nutella' to suppress the strong taste. This is a interesting combination. And
initially, I thought that the mutton meat might ended up to be a bit tough but
rather than being tough, it ended up to be pretty tender and not too dry too,
which is a big (+). By the way, the size of the burger is pretty big too.

By the way, depending on the size of the burgers that you have ordered, you get
to choose either 1(for the smaller burgers) or 2(for the bigger burgers) side
dishes. I ended up choosing the 'French Fries' and the 'Tater Tots'(mini hash
brown puffs). The taste of the 'Tater Tots' are pretty okay but the 'Fries' are too
salty. It would be great if they can cut down on the amount of salt added into it.

By the way, they are providing 'pickles', 'Tabasco Sauce', 'Chilli Sauce',
'Tomato Sauce', 'Serviette', metal cutlery at the side of the stall. So just
go ahead and help yourself to it. :D

Here's the menu of the stall. Luckily I couldn't take beef due to religious reason,
otherwise I would really want to give the 'The Warrior Snack' burger a try too. (Just
imagine 600g (3 * 200g) of beef stuffed inside a burger which is simply 2 times of
'Sparta', 2 times the 'Madness'... :O)

So what's the name of this stall?
The name of this stall would be 'De Burg'.
It's located in one of the coffee shop along 'Bukit Merah Lane'.

Beyond the neighbourhood drinks stall...

After a heavy meal in a coffee shop located nearby, I was looking for the drinks stall in the same coffee shop. I realised that this was the only drink stall located in this coffee shop, therefore I decided to give it a try.

'Coconut Milk Tea'
I ended up placing an order for this 'Coconut Milk Tea'. The taste and the texture of this
drink is pretty much similar to all the 'Taiwanese Bubble Tea' that you can get in most of
the shopping malls. What I find it fun would be the long Coconut Jelly Cubes that they have
added into the 'Milk Tea'. I personally find it much more chewy than the pearls that was
added into a regular 'Bubble Tea'.

'Menu'
Here's the menu of the drinks stall located inside the coffee shop. Hmmm... they really
have a wide selection of drinks. There's 'Coffee', 'Fruit Juice', 'Milk Tea', 'Smoothie',
'Fruit Tea', 'Yakult Booster(Har??)', etc... Basically, there's a drink for everyone,
regardless of your age and your gender(?). According to their Facebook page, it seems
that over here, you get to choose the type of 'Sugar' that you would like to add into
your 'Coffee' too. There's like 'Crystal Sugar', 'Cube Sugar', 'White Sugar', 'Row Sugar'
and 'Brown Sugar'. (If you ask me... I really don't care... :P)

The name of this stall would be 'Brown Sugar' by ESKIMO.

Not Merely Ice Cream...

That's what the title says. Even though this is a 'Ice Cream' shop but this place also sell some other small bites to go along with the 'Ice Cream' too.

3 Scoops of 'Ice Cream'
'Salted Butterscotch', 'Root Beer Float', 'Apple Yakult Yogurt'

'Salted Butterscotch'
The name itself pretty much explains everything. Yes, rather than been sweet,
the taste of this flavour would be salty. According to their website, the
ingredients used in the process of making this flavour are pretty interesting.
The texture of this flavour are pretty good too. Despite being the topmost
scoop, it still can maintain the circular shape after 10 minutes or so unlike...

'Root Beer Float'
This really taste like the 'A&W Root Beer Float' from back then. However, this
flavour have a very very big weaknesses. It's actually melting at a very fast
speed. Therefore, I would highly suggest that if you are going for this
flavour, either put it on the topmost or the bottommost layer to prevent
any wastage.

'Apple Yakult Yogurt'
This is indeed 'Apple Yakult' flavour which is pretty refreshing.

Anyway they seems to be making their own 'Ice Cream' flavours over here,
since there is this consistent sound made by machinery coming from a corner of the
shop. By the way, the 'Ice Cream' that they are selling over here seems to be made
out of natural ingredients and stuff like artificial flavouring and colouring,
or pre-mixes are not added into the 'Ice Cream' at all, which a big (+).

The name of this 'Ice Cream' place would be 'Merely Ice Cream'.
It's located on level 1 of 'Sunshine Plaza'.

Not really fusion food...

Well, as mentioned earlier, humans are greedy by nature. Therefore, as they grew sick and tired of the same type of food that they have been eating on a daily basis, they tend to keep a lookout for new stuff to try, hence...

'Mixed Grill'(烧烤什么扒)
The set itself comes with a bit of 'Pasta', a bit of 'Salad', 'Sweet Corn',
a 'Sausage', a piece of 'Chicken Chop' and a piece of 'Pork Chop', topped
with 'Black Pepper Sauce'.

Taste wise, for a start, the 'Sausage' and the 'Chicken Chop' are pretty
nice. The bouncy and chewy sausage covered with the 'Black Pepper Sauce'
is pretty good and a little bit fiery. The looks of the 'Chicken Chop'
can be pretty boring, but it's succulent on the inside. However, the
texture of the 'Pork Chop' is far too stiff already. Despite with the
generous portion of 'Black Pepper Sauce', I have problem cutting and
savouring this. As for the side dishes, I'm skipping the 'Salad' and 'Sweet
Corn' since there's nothing too special about them. As for the 'Pasta',
do remember to set some 'Black Pepper Sauce' aside for this. The texture
of the 'Pasta' are a bit too dry and you really need some sauce to finish
up all the 'Pasta'.

Even though the food are pretty much normal but at least they are preparing
and offering a generous of food. :P On top of that, they have listed
down a wide variety of food on their menu, which includes both Western
food, Japanese food and desserts too.

So where can you give the food a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Collin's - Grille Bento'.
They have a few outlets island-wide and the above shows the outlet located
in one of the coffee shops along 'Jalan Membina'.

Notes:
  • The opening hours of the individual outlets seems to varies and most of them seems to be located in a 'Coffee Shop', therefore I think that the stall would be opened during lunch and dinner hours. As for supper, I think that you can try your luck but it's very unlikely that it would be opened.

Gets more and more chewy...

Noodles are something that I cannot live without. When I'm hungry or extremely hungry, the first type of food that I will be keeping a lookout for would most likely be 'Noodles'.

'Fishball Noodles' + 'Fish Cake'
This would be part of my dinner the other day. I will
be going through the food items over here one by one.

Even though the portion of 'Kway Teow' that was given were pretty generous,
but there isn't a good balance between the 'Kway Teow' and the amount of sauce
that was added. The 'Kway Teow' ended up to be a little bit too dry for me. :(

The soup itself isn't fantastic enough, same goes for the fish balls.
But, I personally find the homemade fish cake to be pretty interesting.

Regardless of the way they are serving the fish cake over here, it will
always ended up to be super chewy. Not forgetting about the fact that
the taste of it is pretty fresh too. I personally felt that this is the
speciality of this stall as compared to the other items.

So where can you give the nice 'Fish Cake' a try?
The name of this stall would be 'Yong Hua Fish Ball Noodles'(荣华鱼圆面).
It's located inside 'Bukit Merah View Market and Food Centre'.

Simple and Clean...

After going around the island giving all sorts of good delicacies a good try, I need to take a short break from all these fanciful sinful delicious food too. Therefore...

The search for a simple and light delicacy begins. In fact, the choices are pretty
much limited and straightforward. What can be as simple and light as a bowl of
porridge. They are preparing and selling 3 different types of Porridge over here.
And they are the 'Pork Porridge'(猪肉粥), 'Chicken Porridge'(鸡肉粥) and 'Century
Egg Porridge'(皮蛋粥).

'Pork Porridge'(猪肉粥)
The name itself can be misleading. Even though it's given a name of 'Pork Porridge',
the ingredients used are merely a half boiled egg, minced meat, 'You Tiao'(a long
golden brown deep-fried Chinese doughnut) topped with a bit of spring onions. If
you are looking for a much more fanciful bowl of porridge, you probably would want
to give the other porridge stalls nearby a try.

Taste wise, probably I have been eating the same bowl of porridge for the last 10+
years or so, therefore I really love the taste of the porridge over here. Trust me,
I have given the porridge a try when it's warm or cold and the taste of it still
remain to be pretty good. But how to appreciate the taste of this porridge to the
maximum?

As for myself, I would beat the half boiled egg, stirred all the ingredients
vigorously hard so that it will ended up with a light yellowish colour and every
mouth will come with a nice taste of porridge topped with a bit of meat, vegetables
and egg. No matter how much food I have eaten, my stomach will always have space for
the delicious porridge over here.

So where can you give the delicious porridge a try?
The name of this stall would be 'Shi Fu Rou Zhou'(食福肉粥).

Ramen for a couple?

What kind of Ramen would be suitable for a couple? That would most likely be a bowl of Ramen that comes with a generous portion that can share among the 2 of them. And that will be the main subject of this post.

The interior of this Ramen place is pretty
much similar to the other Ramen place elsewhere.

The ceiling of this place has been
decorated with all these old Japanese posters.

I ended up placing an order for the infamous
'Volcano Ramen' of this place a few days ago.

They have laid a card on each of the table. On the card itself,
it have clearly indicated the steps of preparing and cooking a
delicious bowl of 'Volcano Ramen'.

The above shows the 'Volcano Ramen' that I have ordered. The chef has
added lots of vegetables, slices of barbecued pork and Japanese noodles.
The chef has used sweet Japanese Curry as the soup base for this generous
bowl of Ramen. The taste of the Curry have blended into all the
ingredients nicely. Furthermore, they have used the thinner type of
Japanese Noodles over here, which really fit into with the taste of the
Japanese Curry nicely. Best of all would be the bowl that they have
chosen to serve the 'Volcano Ramen'. Rather than using a normal bowl, they
have chosen a 'stone bowl' to serve the 'Ramen'. The 'stone bowl' not only
acts as a beautiful visual element for a 'Volcano', it can also keep the
food hot for a much more longer period of time. Interesting huh?

By the way, the barbecued pork that they are serving
over here are not only thick, it's pretty delicious too.

By the way, the 'Volcano Ramen' also comes with a bowl of Rice. And I just
couldn't resist the temptation of a delicious bowl of rice topped with lots
of curry. (By the way, they are serving 'Volcano Ramen' with 4 different types
of soup base over here. There's 'Curry', 'Soy Sauce', 'Salt Paste' and 'Miso'.
Being a big fan of 'Curry' I will definitely place an order for the 'Volcano
Ramen' with 'Curry' soup base. :D)

By the way, they have also provided various type of seasoning too.
There's 'garlic', 'soy sauce', etc...

The name of this 'Ramen place' would be 'Tonkotsu Kazan'.
It's located on level 2 of 'Novena Square 2' shopping mall.
