Not A & W but B & W...

Speaking of 'A & W', the first thing that will pop out of your mind would most likely be the infamous 'Root Beer Float'. However, the post today has nothing to do with 'A & W'.One of the main killers of this place would be...

Burgers. And this is...
'Free Range Chicken Burger'
In terms of the height, this is a pretty good deal. Not only there's an interesting
and generous portions of ingredients(a thick 'Chicken Patty', 'grilled Bacon', 'Sunny
Side Egg', mixture of vegetables), the taste of it is pretty good too. Taking a bite
off the burger is exceptionally good, especially when you started chewing off the thick
and meaty patty. Not only it's chewy, the freshly prepared patty is deliciously yummy
and fulfilling too. Frankly speaking, not only it's well prepared, it's...

so juicy that to some extent, the 'burger' seems to be X. (What the hell is 'X'
you can figure that yourself by taking a look at the photo in the above.)

'Sweet Potatoes Fries'
This is one of the reasons why I have decided to give this place a try. This is one
of the places that is preparing and offering 'Sweet Potatoes Fries'. Even though it
doesn't come for free, but I just couldn't resist the 'Sweet Fries'. This delicious
looking orangy sweet 'fries' are far more tastier than the average 'fries'. If you are
not into 'fries', you should give this a go, it will change your opinion about 'fries'.

The fun doesn't end there. Besides for the interesting variety of 'fries' that you
can get over here, you can always top up a bit of cash and go for the 'Tapas Buffet'.
The menu of the 'Tapas Buffet' changes on a daily basis. The other day, they have
this interesting 'Potato Soup'. And it's so sinful and good that it makes you feel
like going for the 2nd or 3rd helping. However, I doubt that an average joe can
outstand 2 helping of the soup + a burger and a portion of 'fries' over here. :P
(I must strongly stress that I'm not your average joe. I do have a big appetite.)

Besides for the soup, they have 'Bean salad', 'Potato salad', 'Bread sticks',
'Takoyaki', 'Chips', 'Papadum', etc... Even though the taste of most of the items
pretty normal but the wide variety of 'Tapas' can accompany you the whole night long. :D

The 'Tapas buffet' also comes with 'fruit slices', slices of 'cakes', 'Ice Cream'
etc... I think one of my favourite item that night would most likely be the 'Pandan'
cake wrap around a layer of 'minty' cream.

So where can you give all these interesting stuff a try?
The name of this place would be 'Burger Vs Wings + Bar'.

A hunt for the past...

I tried looking for this hawker centre for a few times. Initially, I thought that they might have demolished the hawker to make way for the newer buildings. However, I was wrong as I happened to come across the hawker again...

'Fried Hokkien Mee'
Reasons why I loved the food over here are as follows. For a start,
this stall isn't selling 1 or 2 types of food only, it works like a
typical 'Zi Char' stall, they have dishes like 'Hokkien Mee', 'Fried Kway
Teow', 'Fried Rice', 'Mui Fan', etc... Secondly, since this hawker is
located in a industrial area, the prices of the food that you are getting
here are pretty low and reasonable. On top of that, there's close to 20
different stores over here. And it's not restricted to merely Chinese
food only, there's Indian, Muslim, Japanese, etc...

As for the plate of 'Hokkien Mee' over here, not only the price is
reasonable, the taste is pretty acceptable too. There's a good mix
of 'Noodles' and the thicker type of 'Rice Vermicelli' topped with
generous portions of ingredients like 'prawns', slices of 'fish cakes',
'bean sprouts', etc... The whole plate of 'Noodles' might appear to
be a bit soupy, but in actual fact the 'Noodles' doesn't end up to be
too soggy. But always ask for a bigger portion of chilli to boast the
overall taste of the dish even further. :)

So where can you give the 'Hokkien Mee' a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'You Chai Cooked Food Stall'(有財熟食攤).
It's located inside 'Ayer Rajah Food Centre 1'.

Beyond Chicken Rice, there's...

They are not only preparing and selling Chicken Rice. There's something special on the menu too. And that would be...

'Yong Tau Fu'
Even though you don't get to choose your own ingredients over here.
This interesting bowl of soup has everything that can satisfy your
craving. Not only there's a moderate portion of vegetables, it also
comes with ingredients like 'fish balls', 'fried beancurd', 'fried
fish cake', etc... For a start, the taste of the soup itself is
relatively sweet and the generous portion of ingredients that was
given is an eye opener. Initially, I thought that the portion of
'Yong Tau Fu' is merely an add-on to a plate of 'Chicken Rice'.
However, it seems that the portion is equivalent or bigger than a
plate of 'Chicken Rice'. The best comes as you dig into the
ingredients of the bowl of soup. The ingredients that have been
selected are those that can float nicely and doesn't end up to be
too soggy. Most importantly, the taste of the soup can blend with
the ingredients nicely, which is a big (+).

This ended up to be my lunch that day. On top of the generous
portion of 'Yong Tau Fu', I have also placed an order for a
plate of 'Chicken Rice' too. The plate of rice comes with this
nice fragrance too. :) As for the plate of 'Chicken'...

Even though I'm not so into Rice dishes, but I could never
resist a beautiful plate of white 'Chicken'. Not only it comes
with a reflective skin, the taste is pretty good too. Unlike
most of the 'Chicken Rice' stalls out there that will pour
lots of salty sauce all over the slices of 'Chicken', the sauce
over here are much more thinner and less salty. Though the
plate of 'Chicken' comes with the disturbing bones, but if
you are a big fan of 'Chicken Rice', you wouldn't find them
a nuisance. :P

So where can you give the food a good try?
The name of this stall would be 'Tian Shui Hainan Ji Fan'(天水海南雞饭).

Nothing to do with Apple...

That's right, even though the name of this place has the 'Mac' word in it, but it has nothing to do with 'Apple'.

'Tandoori Chicken Pizza'
Although it's merely the size of a normal regular pizza, what makes
this interesting will be the topping that goes on top of the pizza.
The main toppings of this pizza would be the generous portion of
'Tandoori Chicken', 'Capsicum' and 'Jalapeno'. Probably they wanted
to attract the interest of a bigger group of consumer, therefore they
have managed to come up with this interesting type of pizza. A
fusion dish between the Indians and the Western food.

Taste wise, the crispy and not too thick crust is a great way to
start. As you move towards the 'core', the nice mixture of melted
cheese and ingredients makes it pretty chewy. Rather than being spicy,
the overall taste of the pizza is relatively sweet and as you gobble
down the first slice, the meaty and cheesy sensation is so good that
simply makes you want to go on and on. :D

So where can you give the interesting pizza a try?
The name of the cafe would be "Mac's Cafe & Bar'.
It's located on level 1 of 'Fusionopolis'.
Notes:
  • Operating Hours:

  • Hmmm... It makes me ponder, why does the cafe always appear to be so empty when they are offering good food at a reasonable price?

A Squarish Block of Rainbow

Ever since we were a kid, we were taught that a Rainbow will appear in the shape of a Arc. But a squarish Rainbow(?) that will be something that we will be exploring today.

'Rainbow Cake'
This is my second encounter with a 'Rainbow Cake'. Rather than serving
a slice out of a round cake, they are serving a block of cake instead.
Though it's a smaller slice of cake, but a block of cake simple makes it
much more easier to savour as compared to a slice that was taken from a
round cake. (At least you don't have the trouble of the slice of cake
tumbling over.)

For a start, the layers looks pretty attractive. On top of that, the chef
has also topped it with all these circular sparkling bits, which makes
it pretty beautiful. :)

Taste wise, the layers are not too spongy and there's a nice proportions
of cake crumbs. Besides that, the overall taste of the cake isn't too
sweet, which is a big (+) to me. :D

Though this cafe is kinda small, but by taking a look at their menu, they
seems to have a wide variety of items. Besides for the different types
of cakes, they also have cupcakes, macarons, waffles, etc...

So where can you give the 'Rainbow cake' a try?
